it's a sad day when you realize you can't update your own livejournal because you don't want certain people to read what you're writing. i have this (irrational?) fear that person X from my friends list will get introduced to person Y and person X will realize, "hey, you're person Y from my online buddy sneaker_scandal's LJ!" then all hell breaks

Create user filters maybe? That way, you can target your posts to mitigate the chances of person X reading or knowing about posts through person Y if you filter out person Y.

then person Z who's on my friends list will run into person Y and ask "did you read sneaker_scandal's post about blahblahblah" and person Y, who's filtered out, will go, "whut?!?"

:P sounds slightly far-fetched but i can already visualize it happening. but howell, i guess that's where my offline journal comes in...
