Seunghyun slips into the chair at the small cafe, wary of the look in both Seungri’s and Youngbae’s eyes. At least Daesung looks calm enough, but there’s still that look. Seunghyun knows it’s going to be a tiresome afternoon.
“It’s not healthy,” Seungri says finally.
Seunghyun is all too familiar with the subject they’re about to touch on. “He’s going through a tough time, I’m just being there for him.”
“That’s a lie and you know it,” Daesung snaps and it catches everyone off guard. It’s rare when happy go lucky Daesung loses his temper. “You’re just encouraging his behavior. He needs to move on. It’s been seven months, he needs to pick himself up and move on.”
“She fucking died,” he snaps back. “He can’t just move on. He needs time to adjust.”
“He can’t adjust when you’re doing everything for him. He hasn’t stepped outside of your apartment since the funeral!”
“I don’t need to explain myself.”
He stands up and goes to leave but Daesung soon jumps to his feet and grabs hold of Seunghyun’s arm. He pulls away but Daesung refuses to let go and soon the two are pushing and shoving each other. Other patrons in the cafe stare and Seungri and Youngbae find themselves in an all too familiar situation.
Seunghyun hits the side of Daesung’s face before the other two pull them apart. Youngbae gives Seungri a look before he pulls Seunghyun out of the cafe.
The two of them remain silent. Youngbae focuses on the road in front of him and Seunghyun can only look out of the side window as he tries to forget about the fight with Daesung.
“Everything’s falling apart,” Youngbae says finally.
Seunghyun only looks at him, choosing to remain silent.
“I remember when fights between all of us were over in minutes. Even when Jiyoung was dating her we were still close, the five of us together.”
They fall into silence yet again.
Finally, Seunghyun speaks, “Sometimes things change.”
“Change isn’t always good,” Youngbae replies.
Regretfully Youngbae drops Seunghyun off at his apartment. His words are lost on Seunghyun and he can only watch as the five of them begin to break each other.
Jiyong stares at the television set with wide eyes. It’s not on, it’s never on, but he finds it fascinating. He registers the faint sound of the front door opening and closing but doesn’t bother to see who it is. The only person that goes through that door is Seunghyun.
He doesn’t move when Seunghyun sits beside him on the couch and he doesn’t recognize the words that come out of his mouth. When Seunghyun tugs at Jiyong, wraps his arms around him, pulls him closer the only thing Jiyong does is leans into the embrace.
“I’ll always be there for you,” Seunghyun whispers as he kisses Jiyong’s cheek and strokes his hair.
Jiyong only closes his eyes and sighs.
