Kibum hates being in front of the camera.
The way it scrutinizes your every move. It captures every movement and every flaw. He always feels on guard, like he’s constantly protecting himself from some unknown world out there. He envies Kangin for his love of the camera and hates the way that Heechul puts on such a happy face when the lights turn on and the film starts to roll.
He hates it when fans follow them, their cellphones ready to capture such a choreographed candid moment. He loves them but he hates them for wanting inside his intimate bubble. He wants to yell and scream and tell them that he’s human. That he wants to be left alone sometimes.
Kibum loves being in front of the camera.
Pretending to be someone else. Thrusting himself into a role that’s alien to him. A doting son, a troubled college student, anything that’s different form his life. He pretends he’s in this fantasy world and loves the reassurance that every things works out in this world. Sure, his character may be upset now but everything always works out in the end. Everyone smiles and everyone gets what they truly deserve.
He takes pictures of himself. He looks at them and wonders what’s so special. Why do they love him? They don’t know what he’s like, they only see an image that’s been through computer programs and printed on glossy paper.
It makes him hate himself.
