There has been a bit of personal tragedy around these parts, even as there is tragedy going on on a much larger scale not all that far away. In the last two weeks we have lost a classmate to her battle with cancer, and the mother of a classmate to pneumonia. First, I'm sorry for all the losses those in your program have faced. HUGS!

Second, this is said very well. I try to do what I can. True, I've not helped Haiti before. I do think we should do what we can to help them - but we do have to remember those where we live.

The thing is, even though they should be helping as much as they can as well, the people in Hollywood really don't help. They make it sexy, ie, well if Clooney is helping then I should send in my money. Or, if DiCaprio thinks this is a good cause then I should too.

You shouldn't do something simply because a celebrity tells you to. I have the same opinion about the environment. I shouldn't drive a Prius because DiCaprio does, I should do it because we should be good stewards anyway.

*sigh* If I do anything, I will teach my children to think for themselves.
