In which the show sucked less than we expected it to

So, maple_mahogany and I went to see Pete Wentz's new "band" tonight. I use the quotation marks because it's really just him and Spencer Peterson playing with an iMac and a soundboard thingie. I could do research and figure out what the soundboard thingie is actually called, but I'm not going to because that would give you the impression that I actually know ( Read more... )

Oh man. On the one hand, that sounds like something I would enjoy seeing, because it's just not the kind of show I usually attend and I'm always curious about what the teenagers are into these days. But it also makes me really, really sad that people act in these weird way around Pete that has resulted in making him wary and withdrawn. I just want to give him all the hugs but that would probably only make me look creepier :(. I'm glad he has a tiny girlfriend to hug him, instead.

It really sucks that so many people think it's acceptable to act like a dumb asshole around "famous" people. I wish there was a widely available access to some sort of a fannish Ms Manners thing..

oh bless!

this is what i left in offlines to maple, which pretty much sums my thoughts up:

that sounds just exactly how i imagined pete!
i think cos he is comfy with his friends and he does stuff with his friends and puts it up online people think that's who he will be with them. (or onto youtube or w/e you know. pranks or other antics)
but he's been very open about feeling shy and not enjoying hugs from strangers. i wonder if part of his snuggly thing with patrick was defensive. 'i'm hugging him so i can't hug you'? *muses* i love that you got to sit there and ~watch and enjoy. he would understand that i think? if it was about someone else. he's pretty self aware in that way.

That's....wow. Really sad. The first BC tour, the little three-town tour that ended in Poughkeepsie in 2010, that was so incredibly different. Pete stayed late after every show, smiling and signing autographs and hanging out with people. He was happy and bright and smiling, the place was PACKED and Gabe was there with Nate to watch, and he took a group picture with the entire icecreamhdches crowd at one of the shows. He signed my bass lesson book "Keep at it!"

It's really awful how time and shitty experiences and fan pressure can change a guy. Poor Pete. :(

I am too, out of bandom I mean. I kind of thought Black Cards had broken up because they never actually released any music...

butting in a little, but yeah, they used to have a frontwoman but Bebe and Black Cards parted ways a couple months ago. There was some noise about maybe Bebe doing some solo stuff but nothing's come of it yet.

BC seems to be just a DJ/remixing two-person 'act' now.. idek :/
