Easier to read maybe isn't the right way to describe it. More like a script? Like if I wrote, "No way!" Pete said, laughing, I'm totally cool with the podficcer just saying, "No way!" while laughing.
And, oh, speaking of, I've been having so many Pete feels lately. Mostly Summer of Like Pete feels which is weird since that was so long ago, but that's just how my brain works.
2. Everyone has deserted me for Teen Wolf and The Avengers and One Direction. And while I see the appeal of those fandoms, none of them have Mikey Way or Spencer Smith so, no, not interested. And hockey! Can't forget that one! OK, while it is true that hockey doesn't have Mikey Way or Spencer Smith, it does have people getting hit and beat up all the time! Think of All The Bruises! And cuts! People get broken ribs/noses/ankles and STILL PLAY. And some of them have pretty cool backstories? Like, at 2-4 years old, some of these guys were already skating/practicing with their sticks.. at 10 years old, some of these guys loved hockey so much that they didn't want to do anything else and got pissed at friends for playing video games, and snuck out of bedroom windows at night to keep practicing.. by 14 some of them left their families and went to live where the better hockey teams/schools were.. and probably cried themselves to sleep every night.. and thought about quitting all the time but stayed.......... and then there is Bobby Ryan,
( ... )
Forgot to say: the very best hockey players, by the time they were 8-10 yrs old, were so much better than their peers that they were playing with kids 2-4 years older than them, and were still "too good", making everyone (teammates, opposing teams, parents) so mad that there were constant insults and threats...
I'm thinking about putting a line or two in my blanket permission statement to make it clear that seriously, I'm totally okay with however people transform my work, including changing the words I've written to make it easier to record. Is that a thing podficcers already know, or should I add it?
No, I don't think it's something that podficcers do know, necessarily, although I've done it a few times without asking. One instance in particular that occurs to me is when you split a sentence in dialogue, something like, "For the record," he said, smiling, "...I really like your cream pies." where putting the dialogue tags at the end of the sentence rather in the middle might read more smoothly. So yes, I think it might be nice to state that.
Also, if I may say so, I like your attitude. Too many authors are way too precious about their little fic darlings. Good on you.
