History:

The Moreau family was one of the most normal, wonderfully clichéd Connecticut families one could ever hope to meet. The patriarch, Albert Moreau was a New Haven police officer well admired by his public, and his wife Diane was a preschool teacher all the way up until she gave birth to their first son, Jake. When Jake was born he became the golden boy of town, quite exceptionally proud of his own father, Officer Al and the astute sense of right and wrong that was consistently taught and followed by the man. Not much changed either when Diane gave birth to her daughter, Mercedes, or their second and youngest son Andrew. In all honesty, the suburban family was so exceptionally white bread (at least as far as Jake has always known) that it hardly left him with anything but a distinct sense of stability and normalness.
When high school came around Jake found himself amongst the popular crowd, one of the more charismatically cool kids that just seemed a bit to old for his age. While he wasn't entirely what one would call a jock, he starred as a Point Guard on the basketball team, and Pitcher on the school baseball team. Jacob did relatively well in his classes, and found himself especially drawn to History and Government from an early age. The only true deficiency that ever pointed it’s ugly little head in the life of Jacob Moreau was a vague inability to connect with much of the female race; though charming and often with a girl on his arm, he found himself easily bored by them and jumped from relationship to relationship quite quickly. Granted all of this came with complete and utter ignorance to his tale, not even upon being crowned prom king did Jake have the slightest hint of tale sense at all until his senior year during a Mock Trial for his A.P. Government class, during which he found himself mentally transported back to the Trial of Alice.
It wasn’t until shortly after that incident, that he was approached by Patricia, who informed him of his place in the world of Wonderland. Seeming to gratefully accept the Compendium given to him, he listened to the rules with slight skepticism, and then decided to actually read the tale from which he came. Not to much of a fanatic for fairy tales, he simply took his new role with a grain of salt, packed the book away and got ready to head off to college. Enrolled in Yale for a B.A. in Philosophy, paid for by a scholarship for baseball and his parents, he continued to only confront his Taleness when he had to make his visits to check in. Four long years later, the scholar made a transfer to New York to enroll in Columbia to get his Masters in Law wherein he found himself buried in the Tale community and working with them took on a partnership in a small underdog law firm and serves the Antheneum as it's go to lawyer.

Personality:
Essentially, Jake is a bit of a yuppie asshole(albeit a lovable one) that is quite consumed with being "normal". This does not always seem to work out for him though. He takes over his cases with a keen eye and attention to loop holes. Though he pretends not to, he honestly cares about those he is working to defend and often finds some uncanny or silly way of rewriting the rules just a bit to make their case work in their favor. Charismatic to a fault, Jake consistently finds himself attracting people to a point of near annoyance. Though he dates, he finds himself bored to tears over and over again as most girls seem to always be exactly the same creatures. His superiority complex for a Once-King is minimal, but it does give him the volition to usually be the alpha male in his pack of friends. Given he often does not have to exert much power to do so; though that can be partially counted towards his extensive study into Machiavellian ethics. Unlike the other Wonderlanders, Jake is surprisingly calm, well put together, and severely lacks in imagination outside of the realm of law and philosophy. Because he has never been met by anything tumultuous he’s become exceptionally set in his ways, stubbornness has become a virtue of both his upbringing and his astrological sign.
Though he is not opposed to drinking nor smoking, he holds neither as a constant habit. His biggest vice is a perpetually dirty mouth, which outside of the professional world seems to just stream out obscenities.

Jake Versus the King:
Jake channels the king mostly in his more rational mindset in the case of what is fair and just in the legal system. He is the calmer of the two monarchs, and when faced with his Queen has the uncanny ability to quell her fury at its very worst by just a few words. Just like the King would silently issue pardons to the tons of poor souls that the Queen would demand be beheaded, Jake has his own ideals of proper justice and uses his place in the world of the law to try and work in the favor of the common man.
