What a lovely work of art...

It's interesting because the man is dressed with a walking cane and a nice suit as if he's just gone out for a stroll, but the mountain he's on doesn't look like a parkway or some easy street; it looks like someplace a mountain climber would hike. Notice he's looking down, not out... If I was on that mountain, I would be looking out and around, not down. I wonder if he's watching the mist... And I think the mist is interesting in itself. It's all moving; you can see motion in the way the artist painted it. like its passing by him. But he is obviously standing still.

So why did he go on a stroll to watch the mist roll past him; why has he wandered into this high domain to be an observer of what he's left below him?

That is what I think when I look at this picture. No answeres though. Just questions

I wrote that I would respond with my thoughts on the painting, and that was a few days ago, since then I have contemplated the painting even more, and I think I have come up with a viable answer as to what I think about The Wanderer Above the Mists. Perhaps I am so strongly drawn to the painting because I identify with the Wanderer. I know what it is like to be on a quest, a personal journey. My life isn't something that I try to pawn off onto others, I don't blame people for my mistakes. It was my doing, strictly my own for I am the lone wanderer. I think the Wanderer though has reached a point of contemplation. He knows where he has been, he knows where he is going, he just needs to find the best way to there, trying hit and miss until he finds the right path. He doesn't care how long his journey takes as long as he reaches his destination sometime. I think that is me right now for I like a girl, I believe she likes me, just I am wandering, around plugging away at different paths of expressing said liking ( ... )

Thanks for calling me a major geek. That does wonders for my self esteem. One person saying it is an opinion. Two people agreeing is a consensus and a consensus about geekdom is rather detrimental to the psyche.
