After reading that Stephanie Meyer compared Bella to Elizabeth Darcy. Now, I'm not a huge Austen fan, but seriously? This sums up, quite beautifully, my thoughts on the series.

From a literary standpoint, yes, Twilight was not a great series (and practically everyone I know who's into literature shares this viewpoint). Appropriate for tween girls? Certainly not - and even I cannot, for the life of me, figure out WHY it is so popular among the 12-16 age bracket. Breaking Dawn was a fuck-up nightmare that served no purpose but to end the series with Bella becoming a vampire (let's skip the first 2/3 of the book and cut out the useless mormon premarital sex lecture, please
