Georgia Has Too Many State Workers?

I was surprised by this quote in reaction to the concept the state has added 11,000 jobs since the last recession (2005).

hah, evans is where i grew up. it's full of affluent white republicans who don't want to spend any money for the gov't to do anything.

What's funny is I agree the government spends too much money on services. However, this isn't magic. To cut back means you either have to eliminate, outsource, or reduce services. The kinds of things which upset voters in general.

Harbin's statement was a media soundbite to sound like the "affluent white republican" he should be. To me he just sounded like someone who spent 8 years on a committee not doing his job.
