True to the season, Sadcat has gone and developed an ulcer in his right eye to match the scar tissue in his left.  I think we might have caught it early enough that an aggressive treatment of antivirals will clear it up.  The eye is already looking loads better, but it's the Cone of Shame until the vets can re-check him Thursday morning.  At least ( Read more... )

I think it may be successfully clearing up! I can't see any corneal disturbance and he's not lidding the eye anymore. The vets are taking a much more aggressive approach from the get-go; none of those pansy gels this time.

Poor little Sadcat and his Cone of Shame. We are supposed to brush the dog's teeth, which helps with gingivitis and such, but I cannot imagine trying to do that with a cat.

That's pretty much what the vet said: that there isn't much people can do about feline hygiene. But she also mentioned that the gingivitis was probably due to his overall shitty immune system (he has no tartar buildup!), so maybe the lysine I'm cramming down his throat will help!

Although if anyone could ever successfully brush a cat's teeth, Rick would be that cat.

Poor kitty!

We use Oxyfresh in our cats' water. I don't know if it's the Oxyfresh, or going from Raleigh to Cary water, but Asi used to need teeth cleanings yearly, and he hasn't needed one since. I figure it's worth it, even if it is just a magic comb. (We tried using the stuff from PetSmart, but it made Arioch throw up ALL THE TIME. So, mailorder it is!)

I'll ask the vet about it! She'd said the gingivitis might have more to do with his body's general inability to fight any bacterial diseases (I turned to the Sadcat and demanded to know why he was so full of bacteria, which startled her into a laugh) but I'll do anything to keep from paying out the ass for dental procedures down the line.

At least Renault always gets compliments on his chompers.

Let "magic comb" become the new "placebo effect"!

...Rick using unsuspecting kittens as Cone of Shame boosters....now there's a mental image I'd like to hang onto for a while!

GET BETTER THINE SADCAT.

It was SO adorable, but the sound of my camera beeping to life tipped them off. It's funny how cats learn to tune into that sound...

I do have some pics of him sitting on her, though.

The vet says this ulcer is healing the way they'd NORMALLY expect to see: fast, easy and gone within a week. So for once he's decided to proceed by the book! Perhaps he will be coneless by Christmas!

Dude, I have a thumbnail for your 10-9 commish, and my goal was to have a bluepencil version done by the end of the weeked. Then Sadcat imploded and I slammed my drawing hand in a door! The swelling's gone down and I can hold a pencil again, so I may still be able to meet that deadline.

GO GO SADCAT. HEAL HEAL LIKE THE WIND. :D

WOO~ 10-9 Commish~ :D I'm excited! What did you finally settle on for a concept? I remember it was a dead heat between the first dance and threshold carry. XD

Take care of your hand and your Sadcat pretty lady~ :D

There's a lot more scope for dynamic posing and perspective in the dance. The threshold carry was kind of boring, and I couldn't find ANY decent references that weren't a straight-on shot. So dancing it is!
