Whoa, where'd that come from?

The wedding is four months away, and I spent the weekend watching Bollywood movies on Youtube.  I regret nothing.  My favorite of the bunch was a recent release titled Guzaarish.  It is not a happy-happy-joy-joy sort of film, but it is touching and uplifting and absolutely stone cold gorgeous (not to mention genuinely brilliant storytelling, which ( Read more... )

Good, it's on YouTube! I'd read all sort of reviews and was intrigued.

Also, the earring is my favorite too. I want to bat at it now.

Yes, but the subtitles are in a separate box, so it helps to hit pause, read a chunk of dialogue and then start it back up again. Luckily it's liberally peppered with English!

Also you will need tissues. Apply liberally.

Considering the premise, I am not at ALL surprised to hear this. Also, after seeing what people had to say about Kites, I was wondering how that would color reactions to this. With the tilt of Hrithik's head in the promo poster (which is to say "away from the viewer"), my brain kept saying "Oh, the fuzzily bearded man is Alexander el Siddig." Don't ask me why.

It is still a disjunct for me to hear random English, but that's because I'll be trying to parse/translate sentences and suddenly my brain will hit the English part and go "boom."

P.S. Will I need to rewatch the end of Dhoom: 2 or the end of Jodhaa Ackbar to make myself feel better?

Yeah, at least it didn't lead you on. Much like Moulin Rouge, you pretty much knew what you were getting into in the first five minutes.

Personally I thought Kites was incredible. The antagonistic elements were a little ridiculous, but it dealt with relationships and language barriers in a very believable, organic way.

Let's just say that I had to get up and go play a couple levels of Little Big Planet 2 to cheer myself up afterwards.

I love how velvety you made her eyeshadow. And the layers of texture and paint is just UNF. I likewise approve of awesome earring. :D

Hah! I have NO idea how to render texture (and only ever use the one brush) so it's good to know that whatever I'm doing works for makeup.

Stark values are FUN though.

I like her earrings and her lips.

Also. Because you need to know about this: http://catystorm.livejournal.com/1253048.html <--I'm having trouble deciding whether to LAUGH or just facepalm and despair of Japan...

Huh, that doesn't look too bad. I don't even mind the Lion-o redesign, because long hair and a unitard doesn't exactly scream 'MANLY' outside of the 80s and David Bowie.

I think Lion-o looks like a girly version of that kid with the red hair from Fire Emblem....

If you ever happen to come across a cool screenshot, link me to it! I should start building a folder for this.

Oh, lovely! Have you thought of trying this with actual paints? It would make a lovely acrylic to hang on your wall and I would want one :D

I have no experience with physical paints, except for one class my junior year of college (that was five years ago holy shit), so it probably wouldn't turn out as spiffy on actual canvas. But I wish I could do that!
