Two types of libertarianism

OK, OK, I know, any number of people have written things about how there are multiple types of libertarianism. Like, the "it's just good policy" sort vs. the deontological sort. Or the "UBI sounds good, just don't go distorting any markets" sort vs. the "hands off my money!" sort. But, here's another distinction I want to talk about ( Read more... )

This last sort of "libertarianism" is I think functionally synonymous with New Federalism https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Federalism

In general, it seems pretty clear that many people in the US favor local control in a given situation if and only if local control will result in more of the policy they want.
