But Bob, that's the thing...I don't think it's the greatest movie ever. I completely agree with the idea that all of this praise is a bit ludicrous. However, I was never a fan of Nicholson's Joker, therefore the hate train still rides through Marx-ville

im all about giving oscars to ledger and walle. No problems there. I just dont want to live in a world (a film world) where people start to forget that movies dont have to be based on comic books, dont have to have action, and can be fully original. You will probably cut my dick off for this, but ledger was great, yet I have seen performances in other movies several times just as good. It is the best performance of the year, no doubt. However, take the Steven Segal movie Out for Justice...if heath ledger deserves a statue then so does William Forsythe from that movie...segal and the middling action movie style aside, every moment forsythe is on screen i am riveted and frightened at his performance...it feels like anyone or anything is about to die or happen, truly a great piece of acting on his part. Infact I would easily equal it to that of Ledger's joker, infact i would probably prefer to be in a room with joker instead of forsythe from OUT FOR JUSTICE. Sure the movie isnt even comparable with The Dark Knight...but that performance
