does it bother anyone else that Don Quixote is pronounced like Kee-oh-tee but Quixotic (named afet Don Quixote) is pronounced like Kwiks-ah-tick ? please, someone else must feel this way.

It's because Americans cannot pronounce any foreign word properly.

I checked the dictionary, and apparently that's how it is. I think i will forever pronounce it "kee-ah-tick" because "kwiks-ah-tick" makes me wanna vomit. That does, however, mean I have to stop correcting people's pronunciation.

Well, maybe it's because quixotic isn't a Spanish word, like Quixote. Even though it should be pronounced like the word it derives from. Everytime someone says "kwiks-ah-tick" you should barf on them. :P

yeah, it's strange. It says that it's derived from don quixote, but the pronounciation is not the same.
I don't understand why I'm not a linguist.
