haha, wow, allison, you're right, sestinas are really badass. i looked it up and got into it immediately. this is what happened, i guess.

In the ocean, no rocks go rolling.
Of course, they do not hesitate to swim
with small guppies, chasing the color of mint
that launched, shining brightly, forward today.
Of course, the fisherman knows

the word 'always' makes me feel so strange and sad...and the way you weaved it in with 'rolling' and 'swim' was amazing. i want to print that out and frame it...

hey, thanks for commenting. its much appreciated. sometimes i wonder if all of the effect is in my head, and other people just read it and go 'uh, wtf'

i feel like i can't properly respond to this until i've attempted the structure of a sestina. i don't know that i will soon and also doubt my execution will be as smooth as your's appears. bututut for the time being, this reminds me of the lighthouse home in the beginning of ahab's wife. (losing long green ribbons in the orchard--your first corruption/your first redemption)
