Okay, so I don't usually do this, but this is an issue near and dear to me and this is getting very little no attention in the mainstream media ( Read more... )

Is it the Personhood Amendment people that say "this would effectively outlaw birth control and criminalize women who have miscarriages" or someone else? If it's the people trying to pass the amendment, then WTF!!! If it's someone else, then...I don't get it.

The DailyKOS article quotes people from the Jackson Women's Health Organization and ACLU on that: "MS Amendment #26 actually states that a zygote is a person even before it attaches to the uterus!"

"If passed, this amendment would not only ban abortion but also birth control and many assisted reproductive healthcare procedures which include in-vitro fertilization. .... [W]e will be criminally investigated when we have a miscarriage.”" (So: someone gets to ask "was the miscarriage "natural" or did the woman's behavior do something to cause it?" O_o)
