i woke up this morning and when i walked in the bathroom it smelled like cigarettes. not so strong that i could smell it right away. but strong enough that i stopped and inhaled deeply...there may have been some sort of perfume or air freshner covering up the smell. i left the bathroom convinced that i was crazy. but as i sat in the living room

i don't know that i have advice about the right way to talk to her about it, but i hope that it ends up being nothing. i know you'll figure out what to say, though -- she's really lucky she has such an amazing daughter to support her.

I know how this goes. When I was younger, I once tried to steal my dad's cigarettes and asked why he smoked. Needless to say, I didn't buy the bullshit answers and cried later because I think he's going to die of cancer or something else much earlier than he should have to. I've never had the courage since to try to force him to stop, although I understand it's a personal battle, one that he's not even trying to fight.
