It was my hope to make an actual post today; however I'm distracted by Tropical Storm Rita. Over the weekend, I sorted important documents and made preparations to evacuate Galveston Island if the time comes.
Thats awesome advice, and not just for hurricanes, but for just having and being ready for anything that might happen be it fire, flood, ice storm or what have you.
Very good advice, Tammy. I'm so glad, but not surprised, that you posted and you're paying attention. As soon as we heard that Rita might be heading your way, we thought of you, and hoped you were poised to head out if you needed to. You know how to reach us.
I don't live in a Hurricane area, but seeing this list brought an Idea to mind:
For the photos you take and all of the information you have in file format, you can send them to yourself on Yahoo as a backup to your laptop. For example, you can create a free account on yahoo.com. Then create another, or use whatever e-mail you currently have, then use this account to e-mail your information to the yahoo account. Yahoo gives you 1GB of space for free (I think gmail shares everything stored with statistical places, so I don't know if storing it there is a good idea).
Another option is to create a group on yahoo or msn and store your files and photos there. It's a bit more complicated, but it works...
