DNA data storage

OK, so a whole lot of flashy science announcements are kind of silly and gimmicky, but this is in my area of expertise and it definitely is not. When I read the first part of your post I thought that they could make us all smart ...

But it doesn't appear to work that way .. just data storage, for now, but in the future ...?

There a new "Violent and on Meth" story in the paper every fucking day. For the Justice dept to ignore, what's becoming the drug of choice nationwide, is criminal.

The thing that really intrigues me is the longevity of data stored in DNA form. Under the right conditions, DNA can preserve data for millennia, where as most other digital media last only decades.
