New home for photography

It's official - I'm now hosting all my new (and newly-curated) photography over at Google Poz. Just because it's so much easier - they get synced with my Picasa albums automagically, which is already the tool I've been using to manage photos for years. For a while I chafed at the lack of presentation options, the unreadable URLs, and their grabby ( Read more... )

I post photos from my G+ account all the time now. I click on the photo in G+ to bring up that black-backgrounded viewing mode, and then just right click on the photo and copy the image URL. Might be cumbersome if you have a LOT of photos to get links for, but it does work. Note my recent post about the AFL doctor with the massive moustache; that photo's hosted over on G+ and linked in to my LiveJournal.

Hm, interesting, when I tried that a while back I got disagreeable results, and now I get agreeable results. Not sure exactly what went wrong earlier but one of my concerns was that the URL did not seem persistent and would tend to stop working at some point in the future. Also worth noting - when I edit a picture in Picasa and it's in a synced web album, the URL you get from G+ using your method is different before and after the edit. The earlier URL gets you the earlier version of the photo, the later URL gets you the later version of the photo. So changes do not propagate to LJ unless you update the URL in the entry.

Not sure if that is good or bad! But G+ is keeping previous versions of photos, which is interesting...

It's interesting that you put these postings up about pictures just now. I bought myself a Canon EOS Rebel T4i over the weekend. Now all I have to do is figure out how to take pictures with it. :-P

I'm now up to about 50,000 shots. Picasa is a godsend. I like it a lot.

It all worked well. I could see the albums and maneuver around them.
