I would take care to avoid identifying liberalism with analysis and vice versa. There are lots of partisan liberals and analytic conservatives. At first approximation I'd say they aren't correlated at all

Certainly there are analytic conservatives - but there seem to be a lot fewer of them in the mold of, say, William F. Buckley than there used to be... and a lot more ranting, fear-mongering ideologue partisans while the percentage of liberals impervious to reason and fact doesn't seem to have changed much.
I'm not sure that any state gun laws will work because guns can be brought in from another state. National gun registration on all gun sales would seem like that would work, but then I doubt that will become law any time in the near future.
I enjoy your posts but rarely reply because I don't have much to say and am lazy.
