Ueda Tatsuya was having a horrible day, not only was he dump by his girlfriend, he found out that that damn bitch been cheating on him for over two months already. It’s not that Ueda loved her or anything, but to be in the dark for two months, it just made him pissed off. The girl even got the nerve to claim that Ueda wasn’t paying enough attention to her, that when she’s with him, she doesn’t feel like a woman. Well screw her, it wasn’t Ueda who was trying so hard to get her attention, it wasn’t him who had asked her out. Ueda shouldn’t be feeling so piss off right now, but he was and the raining weather wasn’t helping either.

Suddenly there was a tap on his shoulder, making him turn. There standing before him was a taller, yet younger boy -by the look of his uniform- he was from the same high school that Ueda attended. He was all wet from the rain, his brown hair dripped and by the way he was huffing, it looked like he’d been running. “What kind of idiot would come out without an umbrella?” Ueda thought, his mood was obviously not changing.

The younger boy seems to notice that his hand was still on the other’s shoulder and he quickly retreat it, he nervously stood there, not saying a thing.

“What?” Ueda muttered, pissed off that the other had disturbed him, “You’re the one who tapped me, remember?” he asked sarcastically, he felt like punching somebody and this brown headed boy might be that somebody.

The boy quickly brought his hands up and waved it in front of him, as if saying he didn’t want any trouble, which was when he reached out his hand and in it was a mechanical pencil. Ueda stared at it for a second and then he finally realized that it was his mechanical pencil. He must had dropped it when he left school.

“Don’t tell me you ran all the way here to give me that…”

The boy nodded and brought the pencil closer.

“Are you some kind of idiot? It’s just a damn pencil; you can keep it if you want!” Ueda suddenly yelled, slapping the boy’s hand, causing the pencil to drop. The boy stared in shock, but quickly bent down to grab the pencil, handing it to Ueda once more, “What the hell is your problem?!” Ueda called out.

The boy shook his head, still holding out the pencil.

Ueda stared at him, he didn’t understand what the hell the guy wanted, it was just a damn pencil, and why wasn’t he saying anything, it just made him even angrier. However, staring at the younger boy, he quickly notice the eagerness in his eyes, making Ueda give out a sigh, if he could punch the boy, he would, but the idiot’s determination made him lose his strength.

“Fine then, give it here…” Ueda mumbled, taking the pencil from the other, “Thanks…I guess…”

As soon as Ueda grabbed the pencil, the boy’s face suddenly lightens up; smiling so wide that even the rainy day seems bright. Something jumped in Ueda’s chest when he saw this.

He shook it off and stared at the kohai once more, “What the hell is your problem? You should at least say ‘you’re welcome’, are you a mute or something?” he suddenly said, in defense of what he was feeling.

That was when the smile on the younger boy’s face slowly faded and a nervous one replaced it. Ueda’s eyes widen when he notice a blush showing up on the boy’s face. The boy seemed to notice the awkwardness and tried to smile again, but Ueda watched as the other took a step back and before he knew it, he watched the other run off, disappearing in the rain.

“Was he really mute?” Ueda whispered. His anger was gone by then and now he wondered if he had offended the younger boy.

~*~*~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~

The clock struck midnight, causing Ueda to sit up in bed, why couldn’t he go to sleep?! His mind kept thinking of the younger boy and his facial expressions, was he really a mute? Did Ueda really offended him without thinking? Ueda quickly turned on the lamp as he grabbed the mechanical pencil that he had laid on the night stand, as if examining it, he brought it over his head and stared at it, still laying in bed.

“Why would he run through the rain just to give me my pencil?” he mumbled, nothing was special about the pencil, he bought it from the store, like he had brought many of his other materials, it wasn’t an expensive thing and he wouldn’t had mind if he lost it, so why would that kid go through all the trouble in returning it?

The more he thought about it, the more curious he got. Somehow he wanted to know more about the tall lad, he wanted to apologize if he did offend the other and get to know him.

“I want to get to know him?” he thought, his heart skipped a beat from the consideration, making him nod confusingly, “Yeah…I want to get to know him…” maybe he was feeling guilty, that’s why the boy kept coming back to his mind, he should try to find the other and apologize or something.

With a mission for the next day, Ueda finally turn off the light in hope of getting some sleep that night.

“You got to be kidding me right?” a boy with orange with blond strip hair called out, “You’re really gonna go to every class looking for a kid?”

“Not every class, just the under classmate’s, by the look of him, I think he’s at least a junior.” Ueda said, walking down the stairs to the second floor.

“How does he even look like? How am I suppose to help if I don’t even know how this kid look like?” the older boy complained.

“Maru, if you’re not gonna help, I’m not going to buy you lunch,” Ueda suddenly said as he walked ahead toward the first classroom.

“What? But you promise! Ueda!” but the other already entered the classroom. Maru couldn’t help wondering what the other was thinking, he was just dumped the day before and instead of moping around or even being piss off, he’s out looking for a kid who he doesn’t even know the name of, “something must be up…” Maru mumbled, smiling suspiciously as he finally went after Ueda.

“Yeah, he’s about this tall,” Ueda motioned the height of the mystery boy to show the other, “and he have brown hair, do you guys know him?”

The girls giggled, thinking that Ueda was flirting with them, while the boys shrugged a bit confused.

“What kind of description is that?” Maru suddenly called out from behind his friend, making Ueda turn, “Any other thing you can remember that would at least narrow it down.”

Ueda stared at Maru and raised his hand again, “He’s about this tal-”

“I heard you the first time!” Maru called out, “Anything else other than his height.”

Ueda paused, he didn’t want to say that the younger boy has a bright smile, but that was when he remembered, “The kid doesn’t seem to talk… if he does talk then he doesn’t seem to talk much…” Ueda said, turning to his crowd again.

They all still gave their senpai a confuse look, and then slowly a boy spoke up, “I think I might know who you’re talking about…”

“Huh? You do? Do you know his name?!” Ueda suddenly called out; surprise that he actually going to find the boy in his first try.

“Well I don’t really know his name or his homeroom, but he’s actually a freshman, not a junior.”

“Hah?! Are you sure, this height right?” the older boy repeated, doing the same movement once more with his hand.

He nodded, “He usually comes and watch us box, remember? Sensei tried talking to him, but he ran away without saying a word.”

Ueda paused, “Watch us box?” he mumbled confused, “You’re in the boxing club?”

“Senpai, if you show up for meetings more often, you might notice that we’re in the same club.” the kohai whimpered.

“So he’s a freshman? How do you know that?” Ueda said instead, ignoring the whimper.

“Well every times he comes and watch us, his friend would come and get him, Tanaka Koki is known even to the senpais and since Tanaka’s a freshman, I assume that he is too.” he concluded.

Without even a thanks, Ueda ran out the door, “Maru lets go!”

Maru thanked the kohai instead and then ran after the other, “Ueda! There’s no running in the hallway!” he called out, but he already knew that the younger boy wasn’t going to listen.

Maru was forced to take the rooms on the left while Ueda took the right, each time Ueda asked, there were usually shrugs, or the kohai were too shy to say anything to their upper classmate. So most of the time, he spend looking through the classroom, in hope of seeing a taller boy, though it would had helped if it wasn’t lunch time and people wasn’t moving about, going in and out to buy lunch. At last Ueda stood before the last class.

“No luck?” he heard, making him turn to see that his best friend had also reached the last room too.

Ueda shook his head, wondering if he had somehow missed the taller boy.

“You sure you got your facts right? He was wearing our school uniform, right?” Maru complained, wondering since Ueda just broke up with his girlfriend, maybe the boy just wasn’t thinking straight.

“I swear it was our uniform,” Ueda mumbled, getting tire himself, “this is the last class, if he’s not here, lets go up to the junior floor and search all the rooms this time.”

“What?! But break time is almost over; I haven’t even gotten something to eat yet!” Maru complained.

Ueda ignored his friend and notice a boy walking out of the room, “Hey!” he called out, catching the boy’s attention, “Is there a tall boy with brown hair in your class?” he asked.

“That doesn’t speak.” Maru quickly added, causing a glare from Ueda.

The boy stared at the two older ones for a bit and slowly turn his head to view his class, “You mean him?” he pointed out, causing the two to look into the room too.

Suddenly Ueda’s eyes widen, sitting in the far back window side was the boy that he’d been looking for! Ueda stared, noticing that the boy wasn’t at all paying attention to his surrounding; instead his view was toward the window, as if being lost in the blue sky.

“Is it him?” Maru suddenly asked, snapping his friend out of his daze.

Ueda turned to the boy that they were talking to once more, “What’s his name? Do you know his name?”

The boy pause, trying to remember, “I think its Taguchi Junnosuke, now if you excuse me, I have to go buy lunch before its sold out.” he said before leaving.

“Taguchi Junnosuke…” he whispered out the name as if he was trying to engrave it in his mind. He suddenly turn toward the boy and took in a breath, “TAGU--!”

“JUNNO!!”

A call interrupted Ueda as he quickly turned toward the direction of the other entrance of the room where the voice was heard. Junno snapped out of his daydreaming and also turned toward the voice, noticing the other, he smiled and waved, getting up from his seat and walking toward him. Ueda stared at the boy that had taken Junno’s attention; he was the total opposite of what Ueda had imagined. When his kohai said that Tanaka Koki was known even to the senpais, Ueda had assumed that the boy was popular because he might had been a goody boy, but standing only a couple feet away, was not an image of a goody boy, but a gangster! His uniform was 2x his size, he had sagged his uniform pants, he had shaved the very tip of his eyebrows, and his hair, though Ueda shouldn’t be complaining because he was blond himself, was in a reddish, brownish color.

“Ah! Now I remember, Tanaka Koki, I heard rumors that he fought with 100 seniors from different schools and came out unscratched.” Maru whispered, “And that was when he was only in junior high school…”

“He what?” Ueda muttered, watching as Koki punched Junno playfully on the chest before wrapping a hand around the younger boy’s shoulder. Junno smiled so brightly at his friend as the two disappeared out the door. Ueda also walked out toward the hallway, watching the two walk off, oblivious of his existence. Somehow he felt angered by this, but seeing Koki with Junno just made him even more determine to get to know the younger boy, “I want to call him Junno too…” he whispered.

“Hey Ueda, now that we know his name and where his classroom is, can we go get lunch now? You can talk to him after class or something, right now I’m hungry!” Maru complained.

Ueda turned to his friend and slowly nodded, seemingly blanking out.

“You’ll pay, right?” Maru asked, smiling, he did indeed helped Ueda find Junno after all.

“But I only bought 80 yen.”

“80 YEN?! What the hell is that gonna get me?!” Maru yelled, “I wasted my break searching with you and all this time you only had 80 yen on you?!” the older boy cried out, he slowly turned and walked away, dissatisfied.

Ueda smiled, before turning back toward the direction that Junno and his friend had gone off to.

Before class was even over yet, Ueda had sneaked out the back door and ran down the steps, aiming towards Junno’s classroom. He was determined to talk to the boy and maybe even walk him home. He didn’t understand why he was so excited. He never has been excited about anything in his life, well maybe a couple of competitions, but never for meeting a person.

But as soon as he reached the hall, he noticed Koki standing by Junno’s homeroom doorway. Koki also seem to notice him too and turned toward him.

“You’re Ueda Tatsuya, right?” he whispered, glaring at the other.

Ueda’s excitement slowly disappear as a fierce look took over, his fighting spirit could feel the strong intention of the other, “And if I am?” he darkly said.

Koki gave out a smile, but it wasn’t a friendly smile either, he walked over, as he was only an arm length away, he suddenly pulled onto Ueda’s collar shirt, “Stay away from Junno, you hear?” Koki whispered deadly to the older boy’s ears “I don’t want the likes of you hurting him.”

“What the hell are you talking about?”

Koki suddenly pushed Ueda away, it was a good thing the older boy had a good sense of balance, or he would had fell backward.

“You don’t have to know what I’m talking about, just stay away from him…” he said, “Or else.” that was when the bell rung and students dashed out of their classes, ready to go to their clubs or go home. Obviously, they avoided walking too close to Koki, but they did take notice of the evil grin the boy had on and where it was aiming at: their senpai.

Ueda watched as the hall slowly become empty, but Koki and Ueda stood at their same spot, looking intensely at each other. Koki suddenly broke the eye contact and turned toward the room. His wicked smile quickly became as bright as a child, waving. That was when Junno emerged from the classroom. He brought his hands up and made a couple of signs, catching Ueda’s attention.

Koki shook his head, “Really, I didn’t skip class this time.” he answered.

Junno gave him a suspicious look before noticing the extra person in the hall, his eyes quickly widen as it met with Ueda. The taller boy made a slightly bow at the other, unsure if he should greet him or not. Noticing this, Ueda was about to speak up, asking if he can walk the other home, but before he could say anything, Junno was already being dragged the opposite direction.

“Come on, let’s go.” Koki said.

Junno pointed from him then at Koki and then back again, as if asking if something was going on between the two.

“It’s nothing, I don’t know him, he just happen to be walking by, that’s all, now lets go.”

Junno slowly gave Ueda another unsure bow as he finally walked straight, side by side with Koki.

“The teacher wants to talk to me again, so you better wait for me at the rooftop, okay?” Ueda heard Koki said, he watched as Junno nodded, giving the other a thumb up, which received a light slap in the head by Koki, “Just a nod is okay…” the boy laughed, before the two disappeared up the stairs.

“Talk with the teacher?” Ueda whispered.

“He’s overprotective, is he?” a voice was heard from behind, making Ueda jump, turning to punch the living daylight out of the person, but he stopped when he saw that it was only Maru.

Maru brought up his hand, “Yo!”

“How long have you been there?!” Ueda called out.

“As soon as you sneaked out of the room, I also followed, I saw the whole showdown.” he smiled, “That Tanaka is interesting, don’t you think?”

“What do you mean?”

“He’s rather overprotective of Taguchi, ne? Not an image I would’ve imagined though. Do you think he have a thing for the kid?” Maru said- his smile became rather sneaky.

“What?! He can’t, he’s a guy and Junno’s a guy!”

“Junno?” Maru suddenly asked, smiling widely now, “When did you two start calling each other by first name? Even you and I haven‘t gone that far,”

Ueda suddenly shut his mouth, he wish he could punch Maru so hard at the moment that the boy lose his memory or something, but since Maru’s his best friend, he couldn’t.

“What’s wrong with a guy liking another guy, there’s nothing wrong with that, is there?” Maru asked instead, seeing that his friend wasn’t going to answer the first question.

Slowly, without knowing it, Ueda became worry, but he wasn’t sure why. The two couldn’t be going out, could they? But the way the two acted, it wasn’t that of a lover but of close friends, they couldn’t be going out, they just couldn’t. Ueda suddenly ran toward the stairs too, leaving Maru to himself, sniggering at his friend.

“Really, so there is something wrong with it, that guy that he’s going out with is not you, huh?” he asked, obviously to the Ueda that wasn’t even there anymore. Slowly the older boy thought of the scene when Koki was glaring at Ueda and then suddenly smiling at Junno, making him smirk, “But that Tanaka… is rather interesting, I do wonder how he really act like…” Maru thought.

~*~*~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~

Ueda stepped out into the rooftop of the school, looking about, wondering where Junno could’ve been waiting. This was the perfect chance to talk to Junno without Koki being there and disrupting them, well not actually talking, but Ueda still want to get to know the younger boy.

When he was about to turn the corner, he quickly saw Junno, a couple of distance away, holding onto the fence of the rooftop, and staring down at the field. Suddenly Ueda could hear the cheers from the crowd that gathered to watch the home game of their baseball team and that was when he saw it, the exact smile he had saw the day before. Junno was smiling so wide, so bright that the setting sun behind him only seems to add to his beauty. He felt his heart quicken, he had to talk to Junno; he had to settle the feeling in his chest, the one that kept him up all night yesterday. He took a step forward, taking in a breath.

“Junno!”

Ueda paused, that wasn’t his voice. He turned and saw Koki running from the opposite direction towards the lad.

“AGAIN!?” Ueda thought, getting pissed off that he kept on getting interrupted.

“Sorry, did you wait long?”

Junno shook his head.

“Okay, Let's go home then.” Koki smiled, walking ahead.

The tall lad nodded and followed. Before long, Ueda was the only one standing on the rooftop of the school and only the cheering from the crowd below could be heard.

~*~*~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~

“MARU!” the younger boy complained as he spread his upper body onto the kotatsu, laying face flat on it, “we need to find a way to get rid of Tanaka, if he’s around, I can’t get near Junno at all, it’s like he has a radar or something!” After standing at the rooftop, in the same exact position for a good 30 minutes, Ueda finally left and went to his best friend’s house.

“Junno?” Maru repeated again, making Ueda mentally slamming his head on the kotatsu for calling the tall lad by his name again. The older boy sniggered, but quickly cleared his throat, “When you said get rid of, what do you have in mind? Paying some guy to kidnap Tanaka and throwing him into the middle of nowhere?”

Ueda sat up and stared at his friend with a dissatisfied look, “You know what I mean! We need a diversion to get Tanaka and Taguchi apart.” Ueda explained, falling back now and spreading his arms out on Maru’s carpeted floor, “something that would take up time… if it was me, I’ll just call him out for a fight or something, but if I’m at the fight, I won’t be able to talk to Taguchi…” suddenly his eyes widen, making him sit up again, “Maru, yo-”

“I am not calling him out to a fight.” Maru suddenly said, stopping the other before he could finish.

Ueda frowned and fell back to the floor, “Then what should we do? Getting him in trouble with the teacher would be too low and if Taguchi-san finds out about it, he might even hate me…” he said, making sure that Maru heard him said Junno’s name respectfully.

Maru smirked and that was when he had an idea, “Tell you what, leave Tanaka to me.” he smiled.

“Huh? You’re really going to call him out for a duel?” Ueda asked.

“What are you talking about?” Maru suddenly called out, “Are you still thinking of that?”

“Then what are you planning to do then…”

Maru smiled, “Let just say, Taguchi might have to stay at the rooftop waiting a little bit longer.”

~*~*~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~

The next day as soon as the bell rung, Ueda went up to the rooftop, exactly like Maru had instructed him to do. He was still uncertain on how the other was going to distract Koki and how he was going to meet Junno up here, but he had faith in his friend, so he waited patiently, staring down into the field, at the same position that Junno was at the day before.

Suddenly he heard footstep walking his way and then he heard it stop. Ueda quickly turn to see exactly who he was expecting. Junno stood only a couple of feet away, surprise to see that the older boy was at his spot where he usually waits for Koki whenever his friend had to go talk to the teacher. Junno slowly averted his eyes, bowing his head slightly as if to apologize for disturbing Ueda, and then he turned away, attempting to find another place to stay.

“Wait a minute!” Ueda suddenly called out, “I’d like to talk to you.”

Junno turned and confusedly pointed at himself.

“Yes you, Taguchi Junnosuke.”

And as Ueda called out the boy’s name, he quickly noticed a blush emerging from the taller boy’s face, making his heart quicken.

~*~*~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~

“What the hell are you talking about?!” Koki called out, this wasn’t the usual lecture that he would get from the teacher everyday. Today was different, especially since there was a smiling geek standing next to his homeroom teacher.

“Like I said, your sempai, Nakamaru Yuichi here, had offer to give free tutoring to a student in my class, and you were luckily chosen out of the rest.” the teacher explained.

“But I didn’t sign up for any free tutoring! I don’t need this guy!”

“Tanaka-kun, indoor voice.” Maru suddenly said, irritating Koki even more.

“Tanaka, do you not remember your current results? If you do not pass the upcoming exams, you will NOT move up a grade!” the teacher suddenly threatened, causing Koki to quiet down, “I’ve been reminding you to take proper care of yourself, dress better, but you ignore them all, for once, listen to me, I want you to graduate with the rest of your classmates!” the teacher called out dramatically, “this is why this honor roll student decide to use his free time giving out free lessons to someone like you.”

Maru nodded in agreement.

Koki stared at the two, he was outnumbered and before he knew it, his head dropped down in defeat, “Fine then, how long will it take, how many days are we suppose to meet and where? And when does it start?” Koki mumbled.

Maru gave out a huge smile and walked up to his kohai, laying his hands on the younger boy’s shoulders, “Now.” he chirped.

~*~*~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~

Without realizing it, Ueda pointed to himself, “My name is Ueda Tatsuya. I’m a senior in this school.”

Junno stared at the other and suddenly laughed, nodding.

Ueda flushed, he wasn’t sure what he wanted to said. He wanted to talk to the other so badly, but now that he had Junno right in front of him, his mind wasn’t at all working.

Junno quickly thought of something and dug through his bag, taking out a notebook and pencil, scribbling on it. “I know who you are. You are one of the top boxers in our school.”

“Ah, so you seen me box before?”

Junno nodded

“I see… about two days ago, I’m sorry for being sarcastic about your disability.”

Junno quickly scribble down some words again, “it‘s okay,” he smiled and pointed to himself before giving a thumb up.

Ueda smiled at the sight, “Why did you run all the way through the rain just to give me my pencil?” he asked.

Junno thought for a second and went back to his notebook again, “I thought what if you were in a situation where you wanted to write down something and reach into your pocket just to realize that you had lost your pencil- it would be bad. Or what if it was the only pencil you had, you wouldn‘t be able to do your homework.”

Ueda stared blankly at Junno, “You really thought that that was my only pencil?”

Junno suddenly blushed and avoid eye-contact, scribbling, “Sorry.”

Ueda smiled, “You have nothing to apologize for.” he watched as Junno wrote something down, but as soon as he looked up, he quickly turned the page, “Huh? What was that?”

Junno looked up and shook his head, waving his hand in front of him. Ueda smirked and suddenly grabbed the notebook, turning the page back.

“How did you know my name and why do you want to talk to me?”

Ueda turned his glance back to Junno, who sat staring at the floor, not daring to look up.

“I found out your name yesterday when I came looking for you,” Junno’s eyes widen when he heard this, “I would like to get to know you better, ever since that day, I keep thinking about you…”

Junno suddenly became red and stood up, waving his hand, as if trying to change the subject. Ueda laughed at the sight, “You’re different from what I imagine.”

The tall lad stopped as he stared at the other, suddenly his facial expression changed. He sat down, sulking.

“Oh no, it’s not bad, your personality is actually really cute.” Ueda called out when he saw this, making Junno blush once more, grabbing the notebook from Ueda.

“Please don‘t call me cute” he wrote.

Ueda stared at the paper before turning to Junno, “Then what should I call you then?”

Junno thought for a moment, before answering, “Just call me Junno.”

At the note, Ueda smiled sweetly, “Okay, I’ll call you Junno.”

~*~*~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~

“How long is this going to take?!” Koki whined as fell onto the table, exhausted. The ‘tutoring’ had been going on for 30 minute and the younger boy still didn’t understand a damn word his senpai was saying.

Maru glanced over at the younger boy’s note and shrugged, “You shouldn’t complain, you haven’t even finish problem one, tell me exactly how you even got into this high school.”

Koki didn’t answer though; he didn’t need people getting into his business, especially someone like him. That was when he remembered something and sat back up, “I have to go.” he said, standing up and stuffing his notebook and textbook into his bag.

“H-huh, why…wait, you haven-” Maru quickly stood up too, trying to stop the other.

“I appreciate your help, really I do, but I’m just not the type that you should help…” Koki explained as he walked toward the door, ignoring the older boy that was following him too. As he reached the door, he quickly turned back, “There’s many other freshmen here, I’m sure one will appreciate your aid!” he smiled, hoping it’ll cheer the other up, and at the sight, Maru stopped, his body froze, “As for me, I have someone waiting so I got to go!” Koki quickly said, running down the hallway now.

Maru stood there staring at the space that Koki was just in, realizing that the other just smiled at him. His heart jumped with joy as he suddenly laughed, if someone was to walk by, they’ll definitely think that he was crazy.

“Okay! That does it, not only will I help Ueda, I definitely get something in return!!” he called out, determined.

~*~*~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~

Ueda liked talking with Junno, even though he didn’t understand why. He don‘t remember ever talking so much before, but being with the other, it felt like he could just relax and express his true self. They didn’t even need to talk, at first the silence was awkward, but soon Ueda started to enjoy it. That was when he noticed Junno writing, making him look over.

“I wonder where Koki-kun is, he never taken this long.”

Ueda stared at his kohai. Was Junno bored of him!? That’s why he was bringing that guy up? The older boy quickly turn away, trying to smile, “I have no idea…” he shrugged, what was this? Why was he so nervous now? He needs to be fun, think of a new topic, change Junno’s mind about him, anything! “Hey! Do you wanna hang out this weekend?” he quickly said, turning. That was when he froze.

Junno stared back with wide eyes, it seem he already wrote something down when Ueda was off in his little world, and had turned it around when Ueda suddenly burst out the invitation.

“I‘m worry, I hope he isn‘t in deep trouble with the school, I know he gets a lot of misunderstandings, but he‘s really a good friend.”

The younger boy quickly snapped out of thought and timidly turned the notebook around to write on it again, but he was shaking now, the older boy could see that the other was blushing, even his ears were red. Suddenly Junno stopped as he looked up, opening his mouth, it looked like he wanted to say something, trying to bring his voice out.

“Junno!” The call quickly got the two’s attention as they turned their heads toward the voice, Koki stood before them, his face was in shock, “Junno, why is your face all red?! What did he say to you?!” the boy suddenly called out as he pulled his friend behind him, eyeing Ueda.

Junno shook his hands in front on him, trying to get Koki’s attention; he lightly placed his hand on Koki’s shoulder, finally getting the older boy to turn. Ueda watched as Junno did some motions with his hands, making Koki nod, “Okay, you better not be lying to me,” Junno gave out a smile and replied once more. Koki paused for a bit and turned his glance toward Ueda, “Okay let’s go home then…” he answered. Junno nodded, smiling brightly that he stopped Koki from harming Ueda.

The younger boy then slowly turned toward his senpai and gave out a nervous smile, waving. Koki quickly notice this and grabbed that hand that Junno was waving with, pulling him along.

“It’s a good thing that only I understand you.” Koki suddenly said, glancing back at Ueda, giving the other a smirk.

Ueda was once more, left alone. He couldn’t help being angry, what did Koki mean by that?! Sure, he didn’t understand sign language, but Junno and him communicated pretty well if he do say so himself!

“Ah! I forgot to ask if he was going out with that guy!” Ueda called out, remembering why he was worried, suddenly something else popped up, “And he didn’t even give me an answer!”

“Maru, couldn’t you have hold him up just a little bit longer?!” Ueda called out when he met up with his friend by the school gate.

“I couldn’t, he wouldn’t even listen to me…” Maru sighed.

“I guess if I were you, I’d be too annoyed to even stand him, so I understand you.” Ueda mumbled.

“Actually, he’s not really that bad.” The younger boy stopped walking, making Maru turn back, “What?”

“Not…bad? Tanaka Koki, the boy that took out 100 men is NOT BAD?!” Ueda called out, making sure that Maru was talking about the same guy, “The boy that keep getting on my nerves and interrupting me… is NOT BAD?!”

“Whoa, calm down Ueda, the part of him taking out 100 men was just a rumor and don’t you think it’s a good thing I think this way?” his friend smiled.

“Huh?”

“That way, I can still keep taking his time, meaning more alone time for you and your…new friend.” Maru said, walking ahead.

A smile slowly found its way toward Ueda’s mouth as he quickly ran toward the other, “Really, you’ll really distract Tanaka for me?” Ueda said, he paused for a bit, “And I don’t have to get you anything in return?” he asked suspiciously.

“Nope!” Maru called out, but as he walked ahead, his smile turned to a smirk, “Cause I’ll definitely get something in return.” Koki’s smile flashed in his mind.

The weekend was here and Ueda couldn’t help being frustrated, if it wasn’t for that overprotective guy interrupting them, Ueda might had been spending his weekend with Junno, hanging out at the theme park or something, but before the younger boy could even answer, that guy, THAT ANNOYING GUY had to interrupt them for the nth time!

He couldn’t help thinking of the smirk Koki gave as they left saying that only HE understood Junno.

That was when Ueda sat up, he quickly thought of something! Why didn’t he think of it before?! He was such a genius!

“Mom, I’m going out!”

“Where are you going?!”

“…To the bookstore!” he answered, slamming the door behind him.

“Hmm…the new monthly shounen jump must have come out today then…” his mother whispered, as she continued her work in the kitchen.

~*~*~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~

He been studying for two days straight, making the weekend go by quickly, he couldn’t wait until the day was over, until he could meet up with Junno once more. As soon as the bell rung, he ran toward the roof again, to await the younger boy. Maru had said that he’d take care of Koki, leaving Junno perfectly alone with him. After waiting for a good twenty minute, he was about to give up and go home. Shoving his hands into his pocket, he was disappointed but when he turned back, he suddenly noticed the legs in front of him, making him look up.

“Junno.” he whispered, a smile forming.

Junno was confused for a bit, but slowly he smiled too, waving.

“What took you so long?” Ueda suddenly found himself asking, causing him to mentally slap himself; they didn’t plan to even meet so why was he asking a question like that?

Junno raised an eyebrow, a look of confusion, but then he quickly went through his messenger bag, looking for a notebook and pencil.

Ueda quickly notice this and rushed over, stopping the boy and catching his attention. Bringing his fists up above his chest, a bit close together, he motioned down slowly, extending their distance before pointing at Junno.

Junno stared at him-smiling a bit confused, catching the older boy’s attention.

“Uh… isn’t this how you say ‘how are you’ in sign language?” Ueda asked, repeating it.

Suddenly the younger boy’s face brightened, smiling and nodding, he brought his fist up and did the same motioned.

“You’re good?” Ueda asked, if he remembers the book correctly- that was what Junno was saying.

Junno nodded. That was when Junno did some signs that Ueda didn’t quite learn yet. The older boy wanted to pretend to at least get what his kohai was trying to say, but none of the signs looked familiar. Junno quickly took notice and smiled, shaking his head as if to say that it was okay. He dug through his bag, this time Ueda didn’t stop him and took out his notebook.

“You’ve been studying sign language?” Junno wrote.

Ueda nodded, “I only started two days ago, but I hope to learn more so that we can talk without you writing it down.” the older boy explained.

Junno paused, a little taken aback and slowly wrote something down, but he quickly scratched it out and wrote something under it, “You don’t have to worry about it, I’m fine writing it down.” Ueda read, but he couldn’t help glimpsing at the scratched out words, though it was scribbled, Ueda could still make it out, “You’re doing this for me?” suddenly he blushed, figuring out why Junno would cross it out.

It was true that Ueda only started learning sign language so that he can communicate with Junno and show Koki that he wasn’t the only special friend, but now that Junno had mention it, it became clear that he WAS doing this for Junno.

The tall lad quickly notice his senpai’s blush and turned his notebook away, crossing the words out even more, hoping that it wasn’t those words that Ueda was reacting to. He then wrote down something, hoping to distract the older boy, “Why are you up here? Are you waiting for your friend too?”

Ueda quickly nodded, looking away, “Y-Yeah, kinda like that… you see my friend is tutoring Tanaka-san, so he kinda told me to wait for him.” he said, making most of it up on the spot.

“Oh, your friend is Nakamaru-senpai, right? The reason why… I got here later than usual was because Koki-kun wouldn’t accept senpai’s kindness and so I was trying to convince him to stay and study with senpai.” Junno wrote, showing it to Ueda.

Ueda suddenly got distracted by Koki’s name, “So they’re in the first name term too?” he thought, starting to get worry that the two are a couple, “U-um Junno, I- I was wondering…you and Tanaka-san…” he paused, unsure how to bring it up. Junno stared at him curiously, nodding for the other to go on. At this, he quickly turned away to face the metal fences of the rooftop, “Don’t get me wrong, I’m just wondering… but a-are you and Tanaka-san…dating?”

After he said that, he started to find an interest in the sky, acting as if he didn’t ask such question. After a moment of silence, he suddenly heard a slight chuckle, making him turn toward Junno again. The younger boy covered his month, trying hard to hold in his laughter.

“What’s so funny?”

Junno notice his serious tone and sat up straight, only to bend over and laugh again, waving his hand in front of him as if to tell the other that he was sorry, but he couldn’t hold it in anymore.

At the sight, a small smile found its way across Ueda’s face, “Really… what’s so funny?” he sniggered.

He noticed that the younger boy was laughing too much to write straight, Junno quickly gave up on it and turned to Ueda, a bright smile still on his face. He made some hand gesture, but quickly saw that Ueda didn’t understand. He then pointed at himself.

“You…”

He pointed at his friend’s name that he had written down on the paper.

“…and Tanaka-san…”

Junno suddenly waved his hand in front of him, laughing at the process.

“…are not dating?” Ueda asked, making sure he understood it.

The tall boy nodded, and slightly punched Ueda on the shoulder, as if to say ‘nice joke,’ but this caused Ueda to be taken aback, and Junno caught on too. The kohai quickly removed his hand and bowed an apology.

“N-no its, its okay.” Ueda called out, somehow he felt happy, for Junno to do that to him must mean that the boy was comfortable around him.

Junno gave out a ’are you sure’ smile, making Ueda nod.

“Really it’s okay… so you and Tanaka-san aren’t a couple then?”

Junno nodded and grabbed the notebook, “Koki-kun is my childhood friend, he treat me like a brother, that‘s why he look out for me.” he wrote.

At that sight, a huge relief came over him, he couldn’t hide his smile, “Oh I see, like brothers, huh?” he said, but in his mind he was totally making fun of Koki, it was obvious that the guy liked Junno, “Haha! You see that! He only thinks of you as a friend! A brother!” he laughed again at his thought and how Koki will be crush if only he knew.

Junno stared at him and wrote, “What’s so funny?”

Ueda notice and shook his head, “Nothing, nothing at all.” he smirked; he didn’t understand why he was so happy.

“I don’t understand. I don’t understand. I DON’T UNDERSTAND!” Koki yelled as he slammed his hand onto the desk.

Maru stared up from the book and walked over, “What don’t you understand? If you have a question, you should raise your hand.” he explained.

Koki glared at the other, “If it wasn’t for Junno, I wouldn’t even be here right now…” but Maru only replied with a smile, “stop smiling! I really don’t know why you would want to work with me! There’s plenty of freshman out there who would appreciate the help of the ol’ so great senpai so why the hell are you bothering me!”

“Hehe, isn’t it obvious?” Maru said as he leaned in, his nose only an inch away from Koki’s, “I like you.”

“WHAT!?” Koki suddenly turned red, pulling back and almost falling off his chair.

“This problem isn’t so hard, now if you follow how I do it,” Maru ignored the boy and went back to the black board, explaining.

“What the hell is wrong with this guy?” Koki thought, covering the bottom half of his face with his hand, hiding his blush.

He stared at the younger boy and slowly he moved in, placing a kiss upon the boy’s lip, begging to enter, he heard a moan and he took that advantage to insert his tongue into the younger boy’s mouth, caressing the other’s tongue now.

The two were breathing hard and he felted hot, he wanted more than just that kiss. He got a hold of the taller boy’s uniform and ripped the collar shirt open, revealing the boy’s chest, his hand pulled the shirt off and was now making it’s way down, quickly wanting to pull the boy’s pant off too. He could feel himself getting hard, he wanted to be release. He pressed onto the boy, getting a loud moan in reply. What a lustful cry, he wanted to hear more, he wanted to hear the other’s voice.

“Please Junno, call out my name.”

Junno shyly looked at him and smiled lightly, “Time to wake up! Time to wake up! Time to wake up!”

Ueda suddenly sat up, eyes wide open as his alarm continues to scream out, “Time to wake up!” Did he just had a wet dream…with non other than Junno!? Ueda slowly looked down and lifted his cover only to pull it down again.

“I just had a wet dream about Junno…” he whispered and the alarm continued for a good five minute.

“What?!” Maru called out making Ueda grab the older man, covering his mouth. They were on the rooftop for lunch when Ueda mentioned the question.

“Shh! Shut up, someone might hear you.” Ueda hushed.

“W-wait, so what’s the question?” Maru asked, not sure if he heard it right.

Ueda looked around, making sure no one was there and then he leaned in, “What does it mean if you had a wet dream about someone?” he whispered.

“Don’t tell me…” Maru quickly crossed his arms, covering his chest, “Ueda, I didn’t know you think that way about me!”

The blond headed boy slapped his friend on the back of the head, “Not funny.” he mumbled, but Maru continue laughing, “I’m serious here.”

The older boy finally finished laughing and was now staring at his friend, “You never had a wet dream before?”

Ueda tilted his head slightly, “Not that I could remember…”

“Not even when you were dating your ex-girlfriend?”

“No. Don’t even mention her.” he threatened, he didn’t really care about that girl anymore, and he never actually did.

“Then you must really like that person to have a dream about him.”

“Hah?!” Ueda suddenly called out, “Like?!”

“Yes, ‘like‘,” Maru smiled, leaning in, “Sometimes dreams tell you stuff that you don’t even know, maybe it was telling you who you really desire.” the boy whispered, giving the younger boy chills.

“S-so you’re saying that I might like this person.” Ueda said, almost not wanting to believe it.

“Guess so, so…who is it? Do I know this person?” he asked.

Ueda suddenly looked away, paying attention to his food.

“Hey tell me!” Maru called out, but the other continued to ignore him.

“Does this mean that I like guys now?” Ueda thought, a bit worried.

~*~*~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~

Ueda been meeting up with Junno for a month now, but he never thought about liking the younger boy until that day. He was again at the same spot, awaiting the tall lad, he thought about avoiding the other for the time being, but he couldn’t make himself to do so.

He stared down into the field, watching the baseball team train. He stared at the guys’ bodies, their movements, their sweat, and quickly looked away, almost feeling creep out.

“I am totally not gay.” he thought, smiling and assuring himself now, “There’s no way I’m interested in guys.” that was when he heard footsteps, from just that, Ueda knew it was Junno.

“Junn-” he suddenly froze when he had turned and saw the other.

Junno was all wet, his white collar shirt clung tightly to his body; his chest was almost transparent through the white layer. Ueda suddenly notice a drip sliding down toward the boy’s lips, reminding him of the dream when he had captured Junno’s mouth. Water dripped down the boy’s neck, entering his chest, causing Ueda to swallow hard.

The younger boy waved, snapping him out of thought.

“J-Junno, why are you all wet?” he asked, not that he minded though.

Junno smiled, gestured his hands, explaining.

“While you were coming here, you accidentally knock over a bucket of water?” Ueda asked.

Junno nodded, walking over and placing his bag down, unbuttoning his shirt now. Ueda couldn’t help glimpsing over, watching as the boy undid the buttons, and taking his shirt off. He suddenly felt his heart beat faster with every button, his body heat started to rise. As the shirt came off revealing Junno’s naked back, Ueda unconsciously walked toward the younger boy.

Junno dug through his bag and quickly found his gym shirt, putting it on. That was when he turned and his eyes widen.

Ueda was only an inch from him, staring at him with eyes that Junno never seen before. When their eyes met, the older boy quickly snapped back to reality, and in a second he was already by the wall, his face deeply red.

Junno brought his right hand up and ran it across his chest “Are you okay?” Junno motioned.

“U-uh, it’s nothing!” Ueda called out, but he still didn’t move from his spot on the wall, his could feel his heart beating rapidly and he didn’t want Junno to hear.

“Are you sure?” Junno took a step closer.

“Stay there!” Ueda called out, “I-I don’t think I feel well… I-I’m gonna go!” he said. He stared at Junno, who looked at him worriedly, and walked around the boy, he made sure to stay a foot away from him, and grabbed his things before running toward the stairs’ door. He glimpsed back and noticed the tall lad’s sad eyes watching him run off, but he couldn’t stop his heart from beating so rapidly, so all he could do was escape.

~*~*~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~

It been a week since he started avoiding Junno and he felt bad about it, but he still couldn’t accept the fact that he might be gay!

The bell rung, signaling that the last class was over. The students all got up and packed, rushing out to clubs or heading home.

Ueda quickly noticed his friend packing up too and caught the older boy’s attention, “Hey Maru, you wanna hang out today?” he suddenly asked.

“Sorry, but I have to tutor, remember?” he said, smiling, “Wait, aren’t you meeting with Taguchi-san today?”

At the mention of that person, Ueda could feel his heart racing again, “Uh, n-not today…” he mumbled.

“Okay, I see… Oh yeah Ueda, I can’t come over to your place this weekend.” Maru suddenly said.

“Why not? We were supposed to go check out the new movie.”

“Hey when you got yourself a girlfriend, I happily canceled our plans, now that I have a boyfriend, you better happily do the same.” he smiled.

“A boyfriend!?” Ueda suddenly called out, luckily everyone had already left, “Maru, you never told me that you were…gay.”

“Gay?” Maru asked, thinking about the word, “Well…I don’t think I’m gay, it’s not like I’m interested in other guys, it’s only him who I’m interested in.” he smiled, “If that make me gay, then I guess I am… why do you have something against it.” he threatened.

“N-no, but…when did it start, how did you…accept it?”

Maru paused again, thinking about it, “I just did.” he simply answered, “at first I wanted to tease him, but once I got a reaction, I just couldn’t stop, I fell in love! Before I knew it, I asked him out, he obviously try to avoid it, but at the end, he agreed,” he laughed, “Well I should get going, Koki’s waiting.”

“Koki?” Ueda uttered as he watched Maru rush out of the room, “When did the two get so close?”

After Maru left, the room became quiet, almost unbearable. The low hum of the school heater could be heard. The chirping of the birds, the whistle that was being blown from the field became soundless though. Ueda’s mind repeated Maru’s words over and over again.

“Well…I don’t think I’m gay, it’s not like I’m interested in other guys- it’s only him who I’m interested in.”

“…how did you…accept it?”

“I just did…I just couldn’t stop, I fell in love!”

“I fell in love!”

“I f-”

Ueda’s eyes widen as he suddenly stood up, his mind clearing.

“I’m in love with Junno…” he whispered, as if he just realize it for the first time, “I’m in love with Junno…” he said a bit louder now, and slowly he smiled, “I’m in love in Junno!” he called out as his heart jumped with joy, why didn’t he just accept it, it was obvious from the start. Ueda suddenly grabbed his things and ran out of the room, aiming for the rooftop. Hoping that Junno was there, still waiting for him.

Opening the door that led to the rooftop, he saw the younger boy, sitting, back facing him. He nervously walked a little bit closer and the tall lad quickly turned. As their eyes met, Ueda thought for sure that his heart skipped a beat, he been avoiding Junno for a week and he thought that the boy wouldn’t feel comfortable around him anymore, but the boy still smile- so brightly and warm toward him.

Ueda walked up to him. Oh how he loved the younger boy’s smile, he love how the lips of the boy curved up when he smile. He leaned down. Junno’s eyes were also beautiful, the light brown eyes twinkled so brightly whenever he looked toward Ueda‘s direction. He placed his lips upon Junno’s.

The hot sun was slowly setting in the background, causing a long shadow to cast upon the rooftop floor. A shadow of two boys linking with a kiss.

~*~*~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~

“Are you an idiot? No wonder he ran away!” Maru suddenly called out, causing Ueda to hold the phone away from his ear, “How could you just kiss him out of the blue! You’ve been avoiding him for a week and suddenly you kiss him, he’ll be confused! If it was me, I would‘ve run away too.”

“Thank god it’s not you…” Ueda mumbled, feeling bad now, “Really, I didn’t know what was wrong with me… after realizing my feeling; it just kinda took control…”

“I knew you liked Taguchi-san, but you were never one to act on your feeling before, you must really, REALLY like him then, huh?”

“Shut up, I know that already…” Ueda mumbled, burying his head into his pillow, “Do you think I got rejected?”

“How could you get rejected when you didn’t even ask him out?!” Maru called out, “Kissing him is definitely NOT a confession you know!”

“I know, I really wasn’t thinking…do you think I should confess on Monday then? Do you think he’ll see me?”

“I don’t know, I’m not Taguchi-san, remember?”

“Maru!”

“Okay, okay, let see how it goes, if he show up on the rooftop again, explain to him why you kissed him and confess, if not…chase him down and make him understand you feelings.” Maru sniggered.

“Chase him down?” Ueda confusedly mumbled.

“Hey, it worked for me!”

“Hah?!”

“Okay, talk to you later, gotta go!” he called out, hanging up, leaving the rather puzzled Ueda on the other line.

~*~*~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~*~* ~

During the last class, Ueda couldn’t help but watch the clock, anxiously waiting for the bell to ring so that he could rush to the rooftop and hopefully, succeed on his confession. At last, it was only second away before the bell rung.

“Hey Ueda, give me back my notes,” Maru suddenly said, stopping the boy before he could run off.

“What, now? Can’t I give it to you later?” Ueda whined, looking at the clock again.

“I need it for my lesson plans, give it to me or I’ll never let you see my notes ever again.” Maru suddenly threatened, causing Ueda to quiet down.

He looked in his bag and through his folders, “Weird… I’m positive I put it in here…” he mumbled, opening his desk and searching it, he wanted to find it quickly so that he could leave. It took a while before he finally found the notes tuck away behind a textbook. After handing it to Maru, the older boy rushed out of the room before he did, leaving Ueda a bit speechless.

“Ah, Junno!” he remembered, standing up and rushing out too, suddenly his eyes widen.

Junno was outside of his room, leaning against the wall. At the sight of the older boy, Junno quickly stood straight, blushing at the process. He hesitated before waving at Ueda.

Ueda slowly waved back, surprise to see Junno on the senior floor, “Uh…what are you doing here?”

Junno didn’t make eyes contact as he brought his hand up, he extended his thumb, and index finger out, sliding the two down his cheeks, touching each other at the end of his chin, he was getting really red during the process.

Ueda stared at him, unsure what he was trying to say. Junno quickly notice the silence and slowly looked up, seeing that his senpai was confused. The tall lad looked away, thinking of something else. Ueda watched as the boy suddenly pointed at himself.

“You…” he whispered.

Junno timidly nodded, pointing at Ueda this time, before bringing out his hands, his palms were facing down, as his right hand rotated clockwise on top of his left hand.

Ueda frowned, he never learned that sign before, “Junno…uh sorry…but I don-”

The tall lad quickly looked up bright red, bringing up a finger to indicate ‘wait a minute’ before running off.

“I wonder what he was trying to say…” Ueda mumbled, staring off, “did he forgive me for kissing him? Was that what he was trying to say?” but he smiled, “Oh well, he come back and explain to me…then afterward, I can confess.” he sniggered.

“Ueda-kun.” a sudden voice called out from behind him.

Ueda looked back, not recognizing the voice.

“Akane-chan?” he called out, standing behind him was his ex-girlfriend, “What do you want?” he asked, he didn’t understand why the girl was there now, talking to him.

She looked at him with sadden eyes and took a step forward, “Ueda-kun, I’m sorry about before, I was wrong…that guy was a jerk, I… I want us to get back together…” she whispered.

“What?”

“Ueda-kun, please give me a second chance? I really like you, but I didn’t understand why I cheated on you, I’m sorry!” she called out, “let’s go out again.”

“Akane-chan… I don’t think we shou-”

Before he knew it, he was suddenly silence by a pair of lips. Akane had ran up to him and kissed him, holding tightly to the boy’s shoulders.

Even though Ueda wanted to pull away, she wouldn’t let him.

Ueda grabbed a hold of Akane’s shoulders and pushed her off him, “What the hell are you doing!?” he yelled out, pissed.

“I-I thought that if I kiss you…you’ll forgive me,” she whispered.

“Akane-chan, I’m over you already.”

“What?”

“I already have someone I like, so I can‘t go out with you again.”

The girl stared at him and slowly she looked down, “I’m sorry,” she whispered. Feeling embarrassed from her reckless behavior, she quickly ran off.

Ueda wiped his lips while watching her go, “What was that all about…” he mumbled almost disgusted. He quickly remembered that he was still waiting for his kohai and turned toward the direction that Junno had gone off to. He waited. After a while, seeing that Junno wasn’t returning, he started to get worried. He decided to wait for the tall lad on the rooftop, but Junno never came.

For the rest of the week, Ueda never saw Junno once. He even try to see if he could meet the tall lad in his homeroom, but Junno been absent from school too.
