My Imagination is Starving to Death

Please recommend some fiction to me. I have a really hard time getting into fantasy, be advised. But I'll read good stuff that's not part of a series.

Thanks for your time.

I'm currently reading: "Lamb - The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal" by Christopher Moore - it's the first I've read of his and I absolutely love it - it's hilarious. I've heard his others are good too.

Augusten Burroughs is great too... I've read "Running With Scissors" and "Sellevision" of his, both were very good. "Running With Scissors" moreso. :)

I read "Lamb". It was a riot. My favorite part was when Biff first meets him, and he has the lizard in his mouth.

"I want to do that."
"Which part?"

I'll look up Running with Scissors. Thanks!

LOL Yeah that was a great bit - what made me buy the book to begin with... loved the part when Josh slugs Biff for talking about his mother too. "Who said the prince of peace never struck anybody?"

"Lamb" was pretty good. Moore is off-and-on for me- I've probably read about half his books, though I did enjoy "Practical Demonkeeping" even apart from the fabulous title ( ... )

Was I snarky? That sounds like me. I'm sorry.

I did read "Lamb", and I loved it! May favorite part was when Biff mets Christ, and he's got the lizard in his mouth.

"I want to do that."
"Which part?"

Anyway, I'll look up Practical Demonkeeping. You have so many selections here clearly I will have to start taking notes.

Thanks for the info!

No need to apologize- it was a funnycomment, and certainly has a basis in fact! I know I read mostly trash. -at least from an intellectual viewpoint. But I read for fun, not Improvement.

If you like Christopher Moore, you might also like Carl Hiassen's novels. Not as laugh out loud funny, but very good. Rita Mae Brown's earlier work is good, especially Six of One. Loved Sarah Bird's 'Alamo House,' 'The Boyfriend School,' and 'Virgin of the Rodeo.' Still Life with Woodpecker. Skinny Legs and All.

*gets lost in all the lamb and lizard talk*
Douglas Adams. Dirk Gentlys Holistic Detective Agency.
C.S. Friedman. This Alien Shore (sci fi but EXCELLENT and I dont usually do Sci Fi)
Gregory Maguire. Either "Wicked: Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" or "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" which in my opinion is better..
Graham Greene "Travels with my Aunt" which is strange and silly and somewhat deep.
Uhhh.
What kinda fiction do you like? thats a better question..
