Space Saving Balcony Planter

Apartment balconies are usually long and narrow, which makes finding planters that provide enough space for plants and you difficult. So what do you do if you want plants on your balcony that can provide a bit more privacy and beauty, yet you don't want to give up too much of your precious space ( Read more... )

You could just cut your end boards a little long so that you can leave extra room past the bottom board with the nails in it - so that you have 'legs' and the drain holes have room to drain. Most balconies should be built to drain water way from the house so any over watering or rain will just drain off the edge of the balcony.

you know, I thought of that. But I need to be able to stack these in my garage each winter and permanent feet would make that more difficult. But if you weren't stacking them...feet would be ideal.

You might try making one just a few inches shorter than the other two so that it will stack between the legs of the other one. You shouldn't be able to tell when they are sitting out on the balconey that one is shorter. :)

I have a bajillion rubber drink coasters. I'll just use them. Keeps the paint on the balcony floor from getting scraped up, too.
