So Sunday night, I'm in the middle of watching a movie on my pc, it decides to do a random reboot and then get stuck in the boot up menu, thinking it might just have over heated I shut it down and went to bed. Come yesterday at 2 pm when finally got mobile i booted it up and it kept freezing in the windows boot up, or would get it booted up enough ( Read more... )

It's really a HD problem and not like a PS problem? I think my PS has been causing random hard reboots. I have a new one I Just too lazy to put it in yet.

no its not power problems the drives been tested

and the PSU is brand new

replaced the drive with a 250 gig today

getting a 640 gig on pay day

Sounds like a good plan. Honestly I've had my 500GB SATA drive in my computer for a full year now. No issues yet, but then again I've now had my Xbox 360 for a full year now (bought new last March.) So we'll see what happens if either has issues this year X3.

First off, is this 500GB Drive a Seagate 500GB SATA drive? if so, check the drive's firmware version. if it's SD15, chances are you got a defective drive. if you go to the seagate website, punch in your S/N from your HD into their website and they'll tell you if it's one of the affected ones. if it is, you can send it back to Seagate and they'll do a data recovery for free (so they claimed on their website ( ... )
