1. The ficlet is based on the premise that K&S have a pair of biological sons. Don't ask me to explain it. I will cite alien stuff. It's not mpreg though.
2. 2. This will probably be a series of drabbles, ficlets, and if I'm ever studious enough, fics. For a list of the parts written so far, see
File 001.

My dear Romy and Sivak,
In my travels I found these and decided to send them to you as a reminder of Earth. They are called four-leaf clovers and we believe that they bring luck to whoever has them.
The first leaf is for hope, the second is for faith, the third is for love, and the fourth is for luck. Remember that all four leaves will be with you, no matter where you are.
Your Grandma Winona
"It is an archaic earth...invention," Sivak has such a way to inject factual disdain into his words even with a flat tone. Usually Kirk lets it slide because it reminds him so much of Spock, but this time he responds with a swift knock on the kid's head.
"Dad!" Romy lets out a squeak.
"Captain, I must protest your undue use of violence," holding the box that contains the specimen, Sivak continues quite undeterred. "According to Mr. Sulu, earth plants of the genus trifolium can have up to thirty-six leaves on one stem. Despite the 10,000 to 1 ratio of its natural occurrence, I fail to see why humans would think of the four-leafed variety as possessing special powers."
Kirk narrows his eyes and lifts a finger in front of his sons menacingly. "These two are special because they come from your grandma! She picked them herself, just for you two!"
Romy looks properly chastised but Sivak's blue eyes stare up at him, clear as ice.
"Forgive me, but I am not...comfortable with the symbolisms of the four leaves as dictated in the note. They are much too...."
The word hangs in the air unsaid. Human.
For perhaps the millionth time, Jim Kirk looks at the small face and wonders just what made his son, his blond-haired blue-eyed son, wanting to be Vulcan so much. Spock has reassured him that it's just a phase, and that the child will eventually find a fine balance for himself. And it's ridiculous, because Spock is Vulcan and he loves Spock, butthe rejection still hurts, somehow.
Uncharacteristically quiet until now, Romy perks up and gives quite the surprise by draping himself all over Sivak, arms full of his twin's shoulders and neck. Sivak frowns but doesn't try to throw him off.
"Hey now Siv! If you don't like it, we can just call the leaves something else." Not waiting for a response, he hugs his brother with a fierceness that is rarely seen even from him.
"Look, from the top, clockwise. Dad, Father, me and you. That's four, and that's perfect."
