#088 - Shocked

Another one of those fun little IHOP drabbles...This one is supposed to come AFTER "Nostalgic," but as you may have noticed, I've not posted "Nostalgic" yet. That's because I haven't written it to my satisfaction yet, despite the fact that I've started it THREE different times -_-

Anyway, enjoy a little bit of a darker side of Waspy :3

Shocked

“I don’t understand why you find it so funny that your friend would be pissed about you being with Inferno.”

Chloe had been pondering that for a while. Waspinator would laugh about it every now and then, making vague comments about Inferno and Terrorsaur and things the blond didn’t and couldn’t understand.

“Have to know full story for it to be funny.” The bug replied unhelpfully, popping a strawberry in his mouth.

“So are you going to tell me, then?” For whatever reason, Waspinator was trying his patience that day. Chloe was beginning to understand that the ex-Predacon had an odd sense of humor -he was often deliberately vague- that he was in no mood for.

“Terrorsaur hate Inferno. Know that much already. Inferno not like Terrorsaur much either. Waz treacherouzz, threat to colony, blah blah blah.” With a dismissive wave of a hand, Waspinator shook his head, smiling a little at some unknown memories, “Nothing funny about that. Very frustrating for Wazpinator.”

“Then what is funny about it?” Chloe was about *this* close to blowing his proverbial fuse. Waspinator could be so exasperating, and Chloe hated not understanding things.

“Iz funny becauze izz Terrorsaur’z fault.”

“He couldn’t help dying…”

“Not that!” A laugh and Waspinator shook his head again, “Not with Inferno becauze Terrorsaur died…Iz hiz fault becauze of advice he give.” The smile that flashed across his face at that moment was a devious one, full of smug self-satisfaction, “Told Wazpinator to take what Wazpinator wantz.”

Suddenly, it all made sense. And then Chloe couldn’t help laughing as well. “And you wanted Inferno.”

“Oh yezz…Iz good choice. Inferno would offline before let anything happen to Wazpinator.” This was followed by another haughty smile that looked all wrong on Waspinator’s childish face, “Terrorsaur say if something makez you happy, take it. Inferno make Wazpinator very happy…Wazpinator takez.”

The tone of his voice; that proud, smug look…Chloe didn’t like either of those things. Perhaps this was simply Inferno’s influence over his whimsical little partner, or perhaps the blond had greatly underestimated Waspinator, who suddenly seemed much more sinister and manipulative than Chloe could ever have imagined.

Whichever it was…Chloe wasn’t sure he wanted to find out. He had always known that the bugs were the “bad guys,” but this was a moment that left no question in his mind as to why this seemingly silly and naïve individual could have once been a dangerous threat.
