Hello, world!

I'm in Portland for OSCON. "But," you might rightfully ask, "you don't code. What the hell are you doing at an open source convention?!?"

Well... I'm talking about open source hardware again. K'nex guns, specifically. I'd like to mod the talk a bit, but don't know if I'll have much time.

Yup, finished reading it by ~3pm on Saturday. I woke up before 9am to find Amazon hadn't delivered my copy yet, so read the pdf. The plan was to swap back to the book when it arrived, but it didn't show until after I was done! Jerks.

But I loved the book. The story was fun, piled in all sorts of wonderfulness from previous books I didn't expect, ran a real roller-coaster ride (well, except for those info dumps), and left me satisfied. The Epilogue felt a bit pasted-on, and those names are a bit over the top (wait- didn't someone else die we could name the kids after? They need TWO middle names ot accommodate all the memorials!!!) bit it was OK. I was pleasantly surprised to find the fight with Voldemort satisfying. The whole damned book was satisfying, despite (and sometimes because of) its flaws. I'm re-reading it now.

I've plenty more to say, but probably won't put it here unless someone asks.

Back to doing some work, then bed before conference.
