It has dawned on me that we're leaving for Portugal in two weeks. Crap.
Nabbed some 2007 Lonely Planet books on Portugal from friends last night, and have the '07 Spain book from the library. Just ordered: LP Spain '09, LP Portugal '09, Rough Guide Spain '09, Rick Steves' Spain '09, RS Portugal '09. Decided to skip the other '07 versions (RG Portugal, Moon Guide Spain).
Figuring out where we're going to go, where we're going to stay, etc.
The general plan sounds something like this:
Fly into Lisbon around 4/24
Train up to Sintra, acclimate for a few days while walking around castles
Back to Lisbon to pick up rental car (?)
Travel around interesting bits of Portugal and Spain (details TBD)
Eat at La Alqueria in El Bulli Hotel
Back to Lisbon 5/6, ditch car (if we have it)
OFFF Conference 5/7-5/9
Tour Lisbon 5/10 - 5/12
Fly home
Anyone have comments, experience, or suggestions?
