So I unexpectedly went to see Gackt's concert on Monday night. I knew NOTHING about it. I haven't listened to his music in a while, and I haven't been into that 'fandom,' if you will, in about two years or more.
It was super fun, though. I really do like his music, and I'd completely forgotten how much I love Gackt Job (the band). Seeing You and Cha-Cha... it was like old friends.
The first few songs were new, and I didn't know them. Also there wasn't much with the staging, so I was a little iffy about it. But then it got awesome.
He started and ended with a movie thing that was pretty cool. He's supposed to be a robot, which was a stroke of brilliance, because it excuses his dancing. Because that hasn't changed.
Gackt played the piano for some bits, and he and You did a gorgeous violin duet. Ahhhh, really beautiful.
They had robotic cyborg things going on at one point, with the band members hooked up to these... racks? With helmets with glowing red bands across the eyes. It looked cool.
Good dancers.
This creepy multihead thing that oozed all over (really four people with heads on each hand as well as their face).
There was a DDR-like audience interaction hand game thing which was SO, SO FUN. Seriously FUN. Ahhh, I want to do that again! It was cool!
The MC was amusing.
Then he broke out the songs I know. Whee! Mirror, U&K (with cats!), Last Song, etc. I think. It's hard for me to even remember titles anymore.
Anyway, I really enjoyed it a lot. He puts on a good show, the staging and concepts were great, the rest of the guys were great, and it was just a fun time in general. So worth it. :D
concert/show/event,
it really happened
