Translation: Hirata Yuichiro's blog (2014/3/3)

Hirata Yuichiro, who played Oskar von Reuentahl in the recent run of Gineiden, updated his blog today following the last show. It was quite touching (it made me cry at work, gdi), so I decided to translate it, with some helpful edits by enshinge.

Hello.

Thanks to everyone,

all of the performances of Legend of the Galactic Heroes Episode 4 Part Two: Clash are over.

This was the first time I was involved in this production.

From introductions to rehearsals and the real thing, it was a wonderful time.

I made great friends.

Every day was really, really fun.

I felt lonely on our off days when we couldn’t see each other.
And so we'd call each other and stuff.
On the off days when we had separate work, we’d mail each other to say good luck and such.

I had a lot to worry about during rehearsals.

I feel very grateful to Sai-san, who stuck with me through individual rehearsals every day.
Even though he’s sometimes strict, he smiled at me every day.

“Let me be your wings,” he told us as we faced each other.
He’s a very caring person.

Thank you so much!

And Takami Hiroyuki-san, who cared about me and greeted me every day.

Even for Host-chan (note: stage play Hirata was in last year), thank you for taking care of me!

After all of the rehearsals were over, he helped me by telling all of the Imperials that it was okay for us to have more confidence and be cool.

Even though I was full of insecurities, I faced Reuentahl, got to know the person named Reuentahl, and the more I understood him, the deeper I found him to be. He's such a cool person.

I felt that I could be confident with what I had built up during rehearsals and get out there and do it.

I came to really love the character called Reuentahl.

His Excellency is first on the list of not only Imperials, but of cast members that I got close with.

Maminu is immensely trustworthy and charismatic.

I feel the same thing from Reinhard.

He's really amazing.

Without Maminu, this kind of relationship wouldn’t have been possible.
Maminu is the type of person who inspires those around him.

He’s seriously awesome.

Then, Nika-chan.

I’m so glad Nika-chan was my partner.

Nika-chan’s genuineness, his passion, his honesty...
as I got to know him better and better, I was more and more drawn to him.

I get anxious around new people, but during rehearsals, he would come talk to me.

I was so happy.

We realized more and more how much we have in common.

We were able to talk together about our characters, Mitter and Reuen, and their relationship a lot.

Acting with Nika-chan, I could see Mitter’s emotions in his eyes.

Mitter
Reuen
There’s so much that we experienced together.

Seriously, thank you.

I spent a lot of time with Maminu and Nika-chan, the three of us.

His Excellency and the Twin Stars of the Empire.

I was supported by that kind of connection.

Conny-kun was the affectionate moodmaker. During rehearsals the two of us often rehearsed independently, and he would give me advice on various things.

His Excellency and the Twin Stars, and Bitten.

We are awesome together.

We enjoyed acting every day.

Shodai also has a beautiful heart. It was cute that he cried during the curtain call.

Nakayama-san and HARUNA-chan are also very honest, straightforward people.

When talking about acting, the members of the Empire would speak very seriously together; it was really fun.

And the person who really supported me with the fighting this time was Schonkopf’s actor, Makiya-san.
He taught me a lot about acting and gave me advice about fighting.

He’s always been a very good humored, kind older brother.

When I asked to take a picture with him, he said we should take a funny shot, so Makiya-san became my horse.
LOL

Thank you so much, really!

I still have so many things I want to tell you.

I’ll upload more pictures bit by bit.

Thanks to everyone who supported me, I successfully completed all of the performances.

Thank you so much for your letters and presents!

And thank you so much to everyone for letting me be a part of the shows this time.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

To the cast,
to the staff,

and to everyone who supported us,

thank you so much!

From Yuichiro
