Hey!Say!2007 Johnny's Juniors in Yokohama Arena
Monday, September 24, 2007, 3:00pm show
Writing from Café Jr. (random coincidence) near Shin-Yokohama Station, near Yokohama Arena.
So first of all,
among_the_lost and I met up at Shinjuku and made our way to Yokohama Arena. Took a while to figure out, but we found the scalpers, finally. Spent… way more than we intended, of course, but SO WORTH IT in the end. Bonded with the scalper dude because clearly, Sarah and I rock the Japanese. Made our way back to the Arena and got our seats AS the lights went down. Perfect.
We had center seats, but right in the middle, so pretty good view, not so close, except when they came by on the carts and then HELLO.
Both of us were lacking in uchiwas or lights, but oh well. Sarah eventually rectified this after the show with her Daijiro uchiwa. (Sarah: Daijiro was amazing and Question? was amazing and stupid Fujiie wouldn't look at us, but he was rockin'.)
Taiyo was the only one who actually noticed us, but he waved and then pointed and smiled and we were happy and Sarah nearly fell over. (This was after they had "broken up" Ya3 and we were all sad about how Taiyo and Shoon were probably crying backstage.)
By the way, this is not in order.
First of all, Hey!Say! JUMP (jyam-pu) was freakin' amazing. They kept saying Hey!Say!7 and one kid didn't know how old he was (he said 14 because everyone before him was 14, then realized he was 12). Also, you can see this on Hey! Hey! Hey! (look for us in the crowd!).
They taught us the dance and the kid teaching us was adorable and totally didn't know the lyrics and his helper who was actually doing the moves kept messing them up.
CUTE.
They were making everyone do backflips and Hikaru sucked a lot and nearly died, then held his back like an old man OW. (Sarah: I love Hikaru!)
When Yamada did a backflip, we've never heard that many people screaming for a 14-yr-old.
Oh, Sarah says to say that I am amazing and got video of the actual debut. If you want to see it…
Also, the pamphlets, which we both bought, are sort of awkward. There is lack of shirtage (Sarah says you can have hers). Sarah says she respects Question? a lot and her uchiwa will come in handy at just about any JE concert because Question? is always there.
TegoMass was (were?) also there. Massu was always on our side, but whatever. CUTE and we flipped out a lot and screamed.
Well, really we screamed the whole time and our voices are sort of dead and our throats hurt.
Massu's shirt was Victorian and poofy-sleeved with a ribbon and they rocked and flailed to junior song. Sarah says they are married and whatever she had against Massu, she doesn't anymore. She loves that child. She didn't see what people saw in them until she saw them live and then "oh." Also, Tego's hair? No. Blond is just no.
(Rachel: I didn't think it was bad. It looked kind of nice tonight.)
(Sarah: Just NO. I like him with black hair.)
Team U.S.A. - random what?! It was like random hip-hop, but. Yeah. Um.
They have no fanbase.
They did the actual debut and let in a shitload of press. For a while the group was surrounded and we couldn't see them. But CUTE. Omg, seriously, CUTE.
Chinen can sing like WHOA. That kid is awesome.
Also, some random juniors sang Kizuna and Care. Or rather, one sang each. Actually, Question?'s Daisuke sang Kizuna and we have no idea who sang Care, but that kid POWNED. Seriously, the entire stadium went nuts. It might (might) have been better than Jin.
So they taught us the dance a LOT. And we did it a LOT. I mean, A. LOT. Because the press took up so long, they let us stick around for the rehearsal and actual Hey! Hey! Hey! taping. (Sarah says she didn't scream when Tohoshinki came on the screen, but she may now hold a fond spot in her heart for them as they helped her find her way out of Shinjuku, unlike Arashi who mocked her. Rachel says she definitely DID scream.)
Sarah: "Yun-Jae-Junsu!"
Rachel: "…they can't hear you."
Sarah: "Urusei!" :P *shoulders Rachel sideways*
Yabu: Hey!Say!
Audience: JYAM-PU!!!!
And they sang the song FOUR. FOUR times. Not counting the practice or when they sang in the concert.
But we got balloons and streamers.
Some of the kids had angel wings.
Shoon came by on a cart and we were on the end of the row, so we got a very nice view of… his ass. D:<
We considered grabbing his pant leg to get him to turn around, but silently decided that that would be a bad idea. He turned around two rows later, but that was too late.
V6 dude showed up. We don't know V6, so we don't actually know WHO he was, but. V6. We cheered.
They did sempai medleys and "daisempai" medleys (which was actually just a Shonentai song with lots of Yamada ballet). The NEWS and K8 and Arashi and KAT-TUN songs were FUN, yo. Also Fever to Future. A bunch of times.
FIVE HOURS. FIIIIIVVE HOURRRSSSS.
Kansai Juniors came out and did random backflips and chatted to kill time until the TV recording and then got kicked off the stage.
Random junior who was teaching called the juniors out, then oops, sent them back, and literally threw himself on his face on the floor to apologize.
One junior threw another junior across the stage to get him into the right space.
Statement: Fujiie is punk-rock.
Rachel: Also, he looks like he fell out of a VK jrock band. I am SO okay with this. No wonder he is my favorite. And his uchiwa sold out, Sarah says. COOL.
There was some weird chest-to-chest dance-off something or other that we didn't quite describe or figure out, but was kind of cool. And adorable. They can't really be hardcore because they are little kids in feathers.
(ANGEL WINGS)
No Kisumai or ABC because they're off doing Dream Boys. Also, half of BOYS was missing (no Kunta!).
Sarah feels bad for the Kisumai fans, because that was obviously who they came to see. (We kind of wish they had been there, because we can actually identify them ALL - we each have favorites in Kisumai, soooo [Sarah and her STD boy and me and my Miyavi-look-alike number boy]).
Aaaaaand now we really need to go get the train because the café is going to kick us out and we'll update more later. Maybe. Bye.
PS - We own you.
ETA: You can also read
among_the_lost's post, since she added a bit or something?
Also. Um.
I have fancams. Of like, a lot. It worked pretty damn well this time.
I have a pretty decent recording of Baby Babe, aka what might possibly be Ya-Ya-Yah's last performance... ever? D:
Sarah and I: *cry*
My general reaction, btw, was interesting. I was very excited as they were reading off the names.
...Yabu! (YAY)
...Hikaru! (YAY)
end (...oh, shit)
Sarah was still bouncing around happily in oblivious glory, until I turned to her and was like, uh... what about the rest of Ya3? Shoon and Taiyo? Eh?
Mostly I felt sort of confused and shocked.
But after a few minutes, I decided that if it's hard for the fans, it must be SO much harder for THEM. Ya3's been together for a long time. We should support them with whatever Johnny decides for them. Because what sucks more than having to deal with a whole new group and getting pulled apart from your own? Doing it without the support of fans, and in fact with people against you.
So let's all be supportive, ne? I know I will. Yes, it's sad that Ya-Ya-Yah is no more, but let's hope for the best for Shoon and Taiyo. And let's support Hey!Say!JUMP. I'm sure their friends and ex-bandmates are, too.
ETA a year later: V6 was Inohara, I believe? I'm not checking on that. The violin kid is Hiromi Goto, who is still hanging around and still pretty awesome. I knew who B.A.D. were then, but I didn't KNOW. The wonders of time, huh? ;) Taiyo saw us? I totally don't remember now. XD Blur.
