Leeteuk staggered towards the chair in an exhausted manner, dragging his sore feet behind him. He had just ended another day - night? - of jam-packed schedules, and all he wanted to do was to crash in bed.
Nevertheless, there was one more ritual he had to go through before he could truly get knocked out for the night - shower. A certain diva of the group was taking his own sweet time in the bathroom, singing at the top of his lungs to Shanghai Romance.
Leeteuk sighed at the carefree man who was serving in the army. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat, the sensation of dried sweat on his skin and a thick layer of makeup on his face beginning to get on his nerves. Groaning slightly, he yawned and stretched his aching muscles, mentally lamenting how his age was beginning to catch up with him.
When he felt that his heavy eyelids were beginning to droop, Leeteuk decided that perhaps a short nap would be harmless. He unceremoniously planted his face on the surface of his white desk, arms sprawled across it in an awkward manner. But before he could even find a comfortable position to sleep in, the sound of something heavy crashing against the parquet flooring shocked all the sleepiness out of him.
Rubbing the last bit of drowsiness out of his eyes, Leeteuk forced them open and blearily scanned the floor for the fallen object. He sighed when he realised that it was the Super Junior desk calendar, which had been given to each of them by their company.
That was when the realisation that he hadn’t really combed through each and every page of it hit him, and he began thumbing through it. He had only flipped to the very last page of the calendar when he had first received it, where the words “Super Junior is forever” had been scribbled on it with a silver marker by none other than him. He hummed satisfactorily as he traced the tip of his finger across the rustic front page of it, liking the smooth sensation that the matte paper gave off.
He had a small smile on his face as he scanned his fellow group members’ portraits. Perhaps it was because they faced each other on a daily basis; he hadn’t realised that the bunch of youngsters back then have all grown up to be fine-looking young men - if he could say so himself. There was still an air of innocence in some of them, but they were all distinctively more mature now.
Leeteuk paused on the spread of him gazing in the distance, with his chin neatly rested upon his hand. His eyes wandered to the bottom strip of the page, and his lips curved up into a wry smile. He was the main page for the month of March. He then flipped to the weekly pages for the month; Kyuhyun, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook and Sungmin stared back at him.
Weekly pages it is for March, he decided. Seeing his members provided more joy to him than seeing himself; he could do the latter at any given time if a mirror was presented to him.
His forehead was scrunched into a deep frown by the time he arrived at the page for the first week of April. Despite the fact that Eunhyuk’s name was printed under the date of his birthday, he found a red circle conspicuously drawn around it as well. Feeling confused, he flipped to the first week of February. Kyuhyun’s birthday wasn’t as distinct as Eunhyuk’s, though it was unmistakably circled with a purple marker; smaller, neater.
Leeteuk then went in search of each of the members’ birthdays. Donghae’s was circled with a green marker and had smiley faces drawn around it. Jongwoon’s had a turtle as its frame. His and Heechul’s had the very, very annoying ‘스물’ word imprinted around it in huge red fonts and an overload of exclamation marks. The other members’ birthdays remained relatively normal, though their debut anniversary date was decorated with wriggly lines of sapphire blue.
Sensing something amiss, Leeteuk turned over to the page where he had previously scribbled across. His eyes widened at the mess it had become, with multiple, additional words filling the previously relatively empty space. He chuckled to himself when he managed to recognise the handwritings - his dongsaengs were somehow able to get hold of his desktop calendar, and had wreaked havoc upon it with their ‘물론이죠’s and ‘슈주만세’s everywhere.
However, a sense of melancholy bubbled up within him as he gazed at their handwriting, the tears brimming in his eyes.
He was close to leaving all of them behind for a span of two years, something which he was truly reluctant to do yet was forced to carry out. He vaguely wondered how the group would do without him and Heechul in command, but felt slightly relieved when he remembered that Kangin would be returning to take his place soon enough. He certainly hoped that the boys could hang in there in his absence; he trusted that they would do just fine.
Leeteuk’s attention was diverted from the calendar in his hands when Heechul’s voice reverberated throughout the house, calling for him to take his long-awaited bath. With a scheming smile on his face, the leader of Super Junior eased himself out of the chair - calendar still in hand - and walked out of the room.
He took in a deep breath, and yelled at the top of his voice, pretending that he was livid.
“WHO ON EARTH ALLOWED YOU TO SCRIBBLE ALL OVER MY CALENDAR?”
A smirk played on his lips when a chorus of apologies came from the other rooms on the 12th floor; the culprits were evidently panicking by now. Oh yeah, he would definitely miss pulling pranks on his members alright.
He choked back the tears again when his previous thoughts flooded his mind, but he tried to console himself. Two years would probably fly by in a flash. The pages on Super Junior’s calendar would, however, be eternal.
A/N:
스물 = 30 (in this case, it refers to their age)
물론이죠 = of course
슈주만세 = literally SuJu (lives on for) 10,000 years
