Chapter 1
Not all scars can be seen, not all wounds can be healed. Sometimes, you just can’t see the pain that someone else feels.
Jian Ning was walking on the road to school. Slowly, one foot before the other, slowly, her eyes staring on the ground. She wasn’t thinking about anything, she wasn’t sad about anything; she was just in her own world, a world where gray skies took over it.
“Hey! Look! It’s the anti-sociable again.”
“Haha~ The anti-sociable! But isn’t she weird? Seriously, of all the people in school, she must be the only to be wearing a hoodie in this time of the year.”
“I agree! It feels like 30°C now and she’s wearing a hoodie, not to mention those sporty pants. Ugh, I feel sick just by standing near her.”
They were telling the truth even though it sounded kind of mean. Jian Ning has always worn enough clothes as so people couldn’t see her skin. When did she started all this? She doesn’t remember and didn’t want to remember.
Not long after, she arrived at school and went in the basement as the lockers were all gathered there. She unlocked her locker, took out what she needed for her class, and then closed it back. She was walking to her classroom, eyes looking on the floor, when a pair of feet came in her vision. She lifts her head up to see none other than Kyuhyun, an old classmate of hers.
“You… ok?” he asked with a kind of smile.
But Jian Ning just looked at him for while, and then she smiled before going in the classroom.
“Hey, Kyu! Isn’t it about time you forget about her already? I mean, don’t you see that she is just weird and stuff?” his friend, Siwon, said.
“What are you talking about?” Kyuhyun said and followed Jian Ning in the classroom.
When Siwon entered also, the class was already very noisy: some were laughing, some were talking about yesterday’s drama and some was just asking the others’ homework so they can copy it and spare the teacher to penalize them.
“Kyu! Seriously, you’ve been in love with her for like what? Over 5 years now? Don’t you think that it’s about time to just tell her or to just forget about it? And besides, what is there about her that makes you so much mesmerized? Huh?”
“Man! I don’t know. She is just… so… mesmerizing…, Kyuhyun said while looking at Jian Ning with love in his eyes.”
“You’re weird man! That girl’s just reclusive from the world, didn’t you know? I mean look at her, she’s wearing a fucking hoodie when it’s like 30°C outside. Isn’t that weird enough? Besides, apart from smiling to you, she never spoke once to you, even when the teacher is asking her to read something, we don’t even hear a thing, man.”
“Man, just leave me alone k? Besides, aren’t you supposed to be copying my homework? The teacher’s going to be here in no time so, you better hurry up dude.”
“Oh shit! You’re right! Thanks for the homework by the way, bro! I’ll pay you dinner sometime soon!”
“Yeah, yeah! Whatever, man.” Kyuhyun said and turned around to watch after his love once again.
Jian Ning was looking outside where the blue sky, the sun, the trees with its green leafs and all the nature was growing. Summer was getting near everyday and she can feel it. She was sweating because of the hoodie, but she didn’t want to take it out. She had to hide them, hide all trace of them. She didn’t want anyone to pity her because of them. She didn’t want anyone to know.
The bell rang and the teacher came in. All students took out their homework book and put it on the teacher’s desk. Jian Ning was the last one in line, but she was going to put her book on the teacher’s desk, her eyes felt heavy, her legs couldn’t support herself anymore and she fainted on the ground. Kyuhyun was very nervous and couldn’t believe what just happened. He went to reach her, but then, a guy with white hair and a subtle muscular body picked her up.
“Geng? What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be working now?” Siwon asked.
“Don’t ask, just help me with her in the infirmary, ok? Kyu, you should come too.” Geng said.
The three of them went out of the classroom and many were already discussing about it.
“Tsk, I’m pretty sure she’s just faking it to get attention. She’s such a trouble maker.”
“Yeah! She’s such a whore, trying to get attention from the three most popular guys in school.”
“You two should just shut up if it’s to say anything else like this.” Jing Wen said.
Jing Wen, also known as the student council’s President and the school’s Mozart 2, she couldn’t stand there and let those bitches ruined an innocent girl’s impression to the others like that. Besides, as the President, she had to maintain order in her class like a good leader. She was never hated and never hated someone. She was beautiful and her heart was even more beautiful, that’s why no one dared to say anything when she told those two girls to shut up.
“Ok, it’s over now. Everyone please get back to your seats and let’s start the class” the teacher said. “Everyone, open up your manual at page 306…”
Meanwhile, at the infirmary, three young men were waiting for the nurse to come out and tell them about Jian Ning. After 15 minutes, the nurse came out and went to see them.
“Miss Lin, what’s the matter with Jian Ning? Why did she faint? How is she now? Is she awake yet? Can we see her?” Kyu asked out of breath.
“Calm down, mister Cho. She just had a heat stroke. I freed her from the hoodie she was wearing.”
“Thank God! Can we go see her now?” Geng asked.
“Sure, but before that, I have something to ask you guys about.” the nurse said.
Kyuhyun, Siwon and Hangeng looked at each other before looking at the nurse to ask: “What is it?”
