Now I wish I'd watched the Confidentials... Matt Smith's first interview put me right off, but he seems to have found his charisma. Oh well, just another reason to justify buying the DVDs, I guess :D

I'm still catching up on the Confidentials, so mostly I've just seen a bunch of "best of" clips... but, ahhhhh, every time I stumble on something new it just makes me love them more and more. I mean, even though that is an insanely awesome and comprehensive picspam, there's still more! For instance -- the picspam does include the bit where Matt mocks Karen's running, but then she responds by doing an impersonation of his:

Confusingly, since two magazines I bought both splashed weirdly endearing pap pics of them all over I have now started shipping Matt with his *actual* girlfriend, but in a sort of 'this is probably going to go wrong' motherly concern way (motivated entirely by jealously, clearly. :-P). While still non-seriously shipping Matt and Karen. I don't usually do RPF at all!

I always feel weird getting invested in celebrity relationships and therefore almost never do it (listen, I still get nostalgic when I look at old photoshoots of Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer. NEVER AGAIN), but... sometimes it's just irresistible! In a lot of ways I find it cuter that Matt and Karen both have significant others, though, because it's kind of like... they can flirt and joke about it and dance around it, but still acknowledge that they have normal, separate personal lives? Instead of a probably-doomed-for-disaster "drop everything and bone your costar" situation? YEAH, I DON'T EVEN KNOWWWW, I JUST KNOW THAT I LOVE THEM.

Heh, I think the point where you're wanting people to break up with the people they actually, you know, are in love with so that they can pair up with each other is the creepy unhealthy one. And yet so many fandoms seem to have no problem with this

Oh, I didn't know it was an established rumor tradition! Darn. I definitely understand what you mean about it being too meta/fanservice-y, breaking the illusion/fourth-wall/suspension-of-disbelief... but I think it could have potential to be well-done if they were doing a Christmas Carol-y "ghost of Christmas past" flashback scene (as you say: it would be more of a nod to past canon's existance than anything else *nods*) -- so I'd rather see a separate Doctor-from-the-past moment than a multiple-Doctors-interact-and-ain't-it-wacky scene.

And! as was said in the comments, I kind of like that they've both got significant others so it's a case of "hey, we're just awesome silly people who get on really well" - a bit like David and Billie, really. But nuttier. ;)

Last night I was watching the Confidential when they go on tour, and AHHH I CAN'T EVEN TAKE IT, TOO RIDICULOUSLY CUTE. Even with that horrid striped jumper on, Karen is still... gah. GORGEOUS AND AMAZING AND PRETTY MUCH MY FAVORITE. When she sneaks around taking paparazzi shots of Matt? Heeee! OH MY HEART.

THEY ARE SO F'N ADORABLE THAT IT MAKES MY INSIDES ACHE WITH GLEE.

And they do this strange and wonderful thing where they veer from being like siblings and little kids to having weird tension and then laughing it off. It's just brilliant.
