Blurred Line Between Love and Hate
“Jessica, are you cheating on me?” Tiffany asked sternly.
Jessica was astounded. The question had came out of nowhere. They were eating dinner in a somewhat tension filled atmosphere, but Jessica did not expect that at all.
“Tiff, what are you talking about?” Jessica asked, trying to hide the nervousness in her voice.
“Please be honest with me.” Tiffany asked, once again stern.
“Tiffany, I know we’ve been kind of distance these -“
Tiffany cuts Jessica off, anger evident in her voice, “Can you please stop beating around the bush and answer my damn question?! Stop treating me like a fool!”
“I am,” Jessica answered.
Tiffany remained indifferent, but she did pick up her plate to place it in the sink. Her appetite has obviously disappeared.
Jessica, upon receiving no backlash (which she was waiting for) felt she still needed to explain herself. So she went after Tiffany who was making her way towards the door.
“Tiffany, I’m so sorry. Please hear me out. It was a one time thing. I have no recollection of any of it. Please say some thing.” Jessica rambled with tears already streamed down her face.
“If you have no recollection of it then what’s there left to say?” Tiffany asked, monotoned.
“I-I…I never ever wanted to hurt you, Tiffany. I love you so much and I know that could possibly mean nothing to you right now, but I mean it with every ounce of my heart.”
“I believe you.” Tiffany said short before reaching her keys set on the keys rack.
“Where are you going? Don’t leave! Please Tiff, please don’t go!” Jessica was literally begging Tiffany not to go as she clung onto Tiffany’s arm.
Tiffany placed her hand gently on Jessica’s wrist to pull her grip off of her arm.
“I’ll be back. I promised Sunny I’d meet her at the bar today.”
Jessica was confused out of her mind. Why wasn’t Tiffany reacting in any way? She doesn’t look mad. She doesn’t look sad. She doesn’t even look like she cared. But before Jessica could voice her thoughts, Tiffany had already made her way out of their driveway.

Jessica and Tiffany also work together. Right now, Jessica wished for more than anything to jump out of the tensioned filled car.
Tiffany has not said a word to Jessica regarding the subject of what they talked about last night. Jessica didn’t know whether or not she should be happy that Tiffany’s pretending not to acknowledge it. Strangely enough, a part of her feels angry that Tiffany’s not having any reaction, but then she realized she doesn’t feel like she had the rights to be angry.
Finally, they’ve reached their company’s parking lot in one piece and made their way up the elevator and went to their respective offices. Luckily for Jessica, even though her and Tiffany work in the same company, they worked in two different departments. Jessica’s the head of the writing department of their company while Tiffany’s the head of the photography department so they don’t see each other that often during work anyways since Tiffany’s always out taking pictures.

Lunch time came and Jessica was at a lost. She usually had lunch with Tiffany everyday, but she’s sure Tiffany wouldn’t really enjoy her presence right now. Jessica decides to head to the cafeteria in their building instead.
And just to Jessica’s luck, Tiffany is also there. Jessica decides to just make her way to the line and hopes that Tiffany is too occupy to notice her. Tiffany already has her lunch and is sitting with Sunny, Bora, and SooYoung. Sunny, who has yet to get her lunch makes her way to the line right behind Jessica.
“Hey Jessica,” Sunny said.
“Hey Sunny,” Jessica responded. Part of her wonders if Tiffany has told Sunny what happened yesterday since Sunny is one of Tiffany’s best friends.
“How was the bar yesterday?” Jessica decides to strike up a conversation.
“Fun, actually. Tiffany drank quite a bit though, but she seemed in the mood so I let her and we took a cab home anyways so it was fine.”
“Did she say anything…?” Jessica asked cautiously.
Sunny crinkled her eyebrows in confusion, “No… Was there anything she had to say to me?”
Jessica grew slightly nervous at Sunny’s questioning tone, but she didn’t make it evident, “Not at all. I was just wondering. See you later, Sunny!” Jessica said as she paid for her lunch and made her way to a table with Yuri and HyoYeon.
“Yah Jung, you’re third wheeling.” HyoYeon wasted no time to tease Jessica, but she was obviously joking.
Jessica’s mind was obviously elsewhere because she said, “Oh I’m sorry,” and picked up her plate of food to go elsewhere.
Yuri grabbed Jessica’s hand gesturing her to sit back down, “Yah, she was joking. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” Jessica lied.
Yuri and HyoYeon just nodded. They know no one is ever fine when they say “I’m fine.”
“How come you’re not sitting with Tiffany?” Yuri asked.
Jessica chuckled nervously, “She has her friends and I have mine. We don’t need to be together 24/7.”
Both Yuri and HyoYeon rose their eyebrows in surprise, “Well you guys usually are,” HyoYeon pointed out.
“Well, too much time together isn’t healthy in a relationship anyways.” Jessica said.
Yuri and HyoYeon looked at each other then at Jessica.
Jessica looked up upon feeling eyes on her, “Sica, if you need to talk, we’re here for you.”
Jessica nodded, “Thanks guys, but I’m fine, really.” She shot them a smile hoping they’ll stop giving her the puppy eyes.
“Whatever you say.” HyoYeon said.

It’s been two weeks. Two weeks of the same routine of barely talking to each other and avoiding each other in the office when possible. It was killing Jessica. She wish Tiffany would’ve blown up, yelled at her, threaten to leave, anything! She’d prefer anything than Tiffany acting like nothing happened.
6:00PM came and everyone began to clean up and made their way to their cars to go home. Tiffany and Jessica also.
The two made their way to their white BMW M5 series. The ride home was silent as usual. The two made their way into their flat and before Tiffany could go into their room, Jessica called her back.
“Tiffany, can we talk?”
Tiffany’s expression lowered.
“Is it important?” She asked.
Jessica furrowed her eyebrows and wanted to scoff, but refrained from doing so, “I’d like to think so.”
Tiffany slowly made her way to the living room to sit on the sofa. Jessica followed suit but sat a good one and a half foot away from Tiffany.
“Tiffany, can you please talk to me?”
“What are you talking about? I’m talking to you right now, aren’t I?” Tiffany knows what Jessica was implying, but she doesn’t want to acknowledge it.
“Tiffany, you know what I’m talking about. You haven’t said anything since I admitted to you that I…that I cheated. Do you really have no input? Or do you merely not care?” Jessica asked, dejected with tears threatening to fall from her eyes.
“Not care? Do you really think that I don’t care? I wish I didn’t care, Jessica! If I didn’t care, it wouldn’t hurt the way it does!” Tiffany lashed out with tears already streaming down her face.
“I love you. I still fucking love you so much, but I can’t even look at you. I feel like something sharp is poking at my heart every time I look at you. I long to hold your hand again, to hug you, to kiss you, but I can’t bring myself to do any of it. So I do nothing.” Tiffany is pouring her heart out right now. Taking Jessica’s silence as a sign to continue, so she does.
“I wish I lashed out, I wish I got angry, I wish I could stop hurting. It kills me on the inside. But then after acting like nothing happened, I began to feel nothing and I don’t know which is worst.”
Tears were endlessly streaming from their eyes.
Jessica wanted to reach for Tiffany’s hand to comfort her, but she doesn’t think it’s the best idea. There wasn’t much she can do except to regret her actions, which she does more than anything.
“I hate myself for doing this to us…to you. I broke the most important person in my life… The worst part is I don’t even know why I did it. I’m so fucking stupid.” Jessica said the last part more to herself than Tiffany.
“I don’t want to hear why either, Jessica, it’ll do worst than good.”
Jessica craves more than anything right now to touch Tiffany to show how much she still loves her and how sorry she truly is and so she does. Slowly, she reached for Tiffany’s face and upon not seeing Tiffany flinch Jessica smiled a small smile. She cupped Tiffany’s cheeks and began to place small open-mouth kisses over Tiffany’s tears.
“I’m so sorry. I’m so so so sorry.” She said in between kisses.
“I love you so much.” She said before planting her thin lips on Tiffany’s full ones.
Tiffany did kiss her back, but only for a moment before she lightly pushed Jessica back.
“I…I can’t do this, Jessica. I wish I can ignore it, but it hurts so much to love you.”
They sat in silence for over an hour, but it was no longer awkward and full of tension. It was just hollow silence.
“What do we do now?” Jessica decides to break the silence first.
Tiffany contemplated for a few minutes before she responds to Jessica, “I think we should take a break from each other. I have a lot of paid leave days left. I think I’m gonna go on a little vacation.”
Jessica wants more than anything to beg Tiffany not to leave, but she knows it’s for the best.
“Where are you going to go?” Jessica asked.
“I don’t know yet.”
“Will you come back?”
“One day.”
…
…
…
“I love you.” Jessica said.
“I love you, too.”
A/N: Hey guys! It feels like forever since I've written anything... Especially something SNSD, lol. I hope you guys enjoyed this! I've been doing these open-endings too much, but there's no other way I would rather put it. Hopefully I can write something happy soon, haha. All mistakes are mine!
