Meep. The Decemberists were amazing. Saw them with Marissa and co, mocked the oddly bugirlish chicas in front of us...lots of annoying people in general...needed a chainsaw...and way more crowded than expected...guess the silly band got more popular in the past 3 years...but overall awesomeness.. Rare case of actually "putting on a show". audience ( Read more... )

If you do move to New York at any point, just remember these things:
-Stay the heck out of the Bronx. Unless you want to see the zoo (It is a pretty nice zoo..) Otherwise, there is never ever a reason to go north of Manhattan. Ever.
-Brooklyn is a bad choice for the most part because it got so trendy in the past few years (and really, it isn't all that great), so in order to live anywhere semi-affordable there, you need to a.)live in a crappy apartment or b.)live in the ghetto. Queens actually has some nice neighborhoods that aren't too pricey.

Sure, this might not be useful for quite sometime, but still remember it!

As far as Queens goes, some good neighborhoods are Astoria (There are some cheap places! And Greek food!), College Point, and Forest Hills.

Some bad neighborhoods to stay away from are Jamaica (unless you want to get stabbed or mugged), Flushing (they're not friendly to you if you're not Asian), and Far Rockaway (see description for Jamaica).

And for Brooklyn, Bushwick is kind of ghetto. Park Slope is yuppie filled and kind of pricey. Greenpoint is pretty cool. Our lovely little Liana can tell you more about Bensonhurst than I can. Far out in Brooklyn, Brighton Beach is filled with Russian people, but alright. Coney Island is cool; The neighborhood around Coney Island isn't.

And stay out of East New York.

I'll stop now. I'm sorry.
