Also, if you haven't considered it already, you can file a bereivement with the school. Basically, you get excused from upcoming deadlines and such on the account that a family member has died.
Honestly, you're headspace isn't one for school, so getting a couple of weeks to gather yourself is key.
Uhh... I'm fairly positive it exists, If you ask one of your Profs they could probably point you in the right direction... or if you call the Visual Arts office they can tell you something. Somebody somewhere has gotta be able to tell you something about it - whether it exists or not... but again, I'm pretty sure I've heard it mentioned in passing by pretty much all profs at the start of each year. It's the equivalent of being sick for a while... you have extenuating circumstances so they make exceptions.
Oh, one more thing... if I'm totally lying and delusional and this doesn't exist, I'm really sorry! But I'm sure if you talked to each of your profs individually anyway, they'd make an exception.
