However, i was just recommended about 1,000 books... which is great, and i will probably try to read a little from each list recommended to me.

Dune. I know I've been hyping it since forever, but even scifi aside, it's just an excellent politicking book.

*sigh* I'm just repeating myself, but Starship Troopers. Very interesting look on society, and dealing with problems such as juvenille delinquency, evolution, xenophobia, duty, honor, loyalty, what it means to be a soldier, and the use of force. Yes, it's Heinlein's love poem to nukes, but it's got a lot of deep issues. Also, a very good representation of a grunt's view on life (so I've heard from a number of ground-pounders)

This is a good book. There are lots of good books. I don't think I have a favorite. Kalpa Imperial by Angélica Gorodischer.

I love a lot of books but I think one of my favorites has to be American Gods by Neil Gaiman.
