Dads don't really mean much, if they left.

My dad left my family when I was 7. The fucker cheated on my mom. Fuck him.

He wrote me a letter when I was around 20, asking for my forgiveness. I wrote him back saying I forgave him, but that I never want to see him again.

All is well.

After my parents divorced, mom took us from New York and we moved out to San Diego. 3000 miles between us and dad was a pretty formidable distance.

My dad died from leukemia over 10 years ago now. While we had our differences, I'd still take him flaws and all. Not that he named me Sue or anything; that would have been unforgivable.

Yes. At one point in time, we hadn't heard from him for ten years. We've met up on eight occasions since and I stay in touch with him via phone on a somewhat regular basis.
