About the universal health care insurance I'd say it's pretty common, in most of the countries in the world, to have free urgent and primary care; urgent care it's a public service in all decent countries like firefighters and police so I don't understand why this right should be denied to the American people.
I hope Guantanamo Bay is really closed and it will not be just moved to another (or several) places.
I think Obama's consensus builiding will bear more fruit than Pelosi and Reid's stick it back to them or do unto them approach.
There have been some opposition groups signing onto the concept of healthcare reform (Wal-MArt just recently)
Troops withdrew from the cities in a positive step in Iraq. This guy is a moderate consensus builder and it's better to build in legislative support than it is to swing and miss.
I think Obama needs to throw his weight around like LBJ regularly did and show the strength he has. If the poorest still aren't covered, why even bother at all? I almost feel that a large segment of our populace feels it's survival of the fittest out there and that's no way for a society to live. Here's wishing you and your loved ones a happy 4th!
I will be pissed if there isn't a public option for health care. What's Obama up to? He's more popular than beer at a picnic and he's still letting the GOP and Blue Dogs walk all over him. And for a constitutional scholar, the whole infinite detention and secrecy policies are inexcusable. Now's the time for boldness.
Eh, Philly is Sunoco-sponsored patriotic orgy all weekend, even with the fubar economy. Washington Square, Independence Hall, Penn's Landing for the fireworks.
The beach is already socked in. I couldn't go anywhere if I wanted to, unless I signal the Batcopter. I'm going to bike around the beach for most of the day, I usually sucker someone into joining me.

Simon+Garfunkel ("America") and Soundgarden ("4th of July")? (I have the files if that strikes your fancy.)
Most importantly, I definitely feel you on the "consensus-building" issue.

How about Jimmy Buffett's The Night I Painted the Sky... or Susan Werner's My Strange Nation?
Enjoy your holiday... :-)
