And Luna...you brought out the distilled essense of her character. Brilliant!
I totally was not expecting this much power in an ickle-bitty ficlet--amazing......

Thank you very much! I'm delighted that you liked it and flattered at your kind words. One thing that stands out to me about Severus' work that last year is how selfless it really is, how thankless and lonely--and yet he does it without complaint. As you say, it's almost too painful to think about how bleak that year must have been for him.

I agree. I can't count how many times I've mentioned that Snape was "heroic" and had great "integrity" and gotten incredulous looks. He's apparently such an archetypal "misunderstood hero" that even readers some don't get it! lol!

I think his position was so precarious that he opted for emotional isolation to safeguard against slip-ups--unimaginable loneliness. But, as a fictional martyr he's fantastic fodder for our muses...

I agree, although it seems to me that his entire life was marked by loneliness--sometimes to a greater extent, sometimes less, but always a constant.
Which is, of course, an excellent motivation for writing fanfiction that provides some happier resolution for him. :-)
