Thank you very much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. There's so much about what we didn't get to see in DH to explore...

Thank you very much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I think that of all the people who saw Severus during that terrible year, she would have to be the one capable of seeing the truth.

OMG! This just crushed my heart! Selfless!Severus is too painful to contemplate sometimes.

And Luna...you brought out the distilled essense of her character. Brilliant!

I totally was not expecting this much power in an ickle-bitty ficlet--amazing......

(You know, I had this thoughtful response typed up yesterday, and then LJ ate it! I shall try again today and hope for better luck.)

Thank you very much! I'm delighted that you liked it and flattered at your kind words. One thing that stands out to me about Severus' work that last year is how selfless it really is, how thankless and lonely--and yet he does it without complaint. As you say, it's almost too painful to think about how bleak that year must have been for him.

I agree. I can't count how many times I've mentioned that Snape was "heroic" and had great "integrity" and gotten incredulous looks. He's apparently such an archetypal "misunderstood hero" that even readers some don't get it! lol!

As you say, it's almost too painful to think about how bleak that year must have been for him.

I think his position was so precarious that he opted for emotional isolation to safeguard against slip-ups--unimaginable loneliness. But, as a fictional martyr he's fantastic fodder for our muses...

He is that! His heartache is our inspiration, poor guy.

I think his position was so precarious that he opted for emotional isolation to safeguard against slip-ups--unimaginable loneliness.

I agree, although it seems to me that his entire life was marked by loneliness--sometimes to a greater extent, sometimes less, but always a constant.

Which is, of course, an excellent motivation for writing fanfiction that provides some happier resolution for him. :-)

This is fantastic. I really liked the way Luna's otherness plays here.

Thank you very much! I think Luna's otherness, her outsider status, is part of why I feel this pairing works. Even when they're both within the system, they aren't fully a part of it, and in this case, that gives Luna the perspective to see and understand much more about Snape than most.
