I think what I like most about this story is that you carry your theme of the dead never really leaving us all the way through to the meeting with Luna's mother (which made me v. happy to see), and I love that Severus got stuck in a nubile witch's bedroom. ;)

Thank you so much! :)

It seems a fitting place for Severus, all things considered! ;)

You know, dear mystery author, my usual modus operandi for reviews is to squee and list a few of the things that I liked, but if I listed everything I liked about this absolutely stunning story, the review would contain pretty much the whole thing. And I'm too bowled over to simply squee- the emotion that you packed into the last bit of the story made me cry in the best way. I second Iuls in adoring the different iterations you showed of the haunting and hopeful "the dead never truly leave us," and when I chose that for the prompt, I had hoped that the resulting story would glom on to that, and you have far exceeded my already high hopes. The conceit of Luna's mother being with her and speaking with her is absolute genius, and it's incredibly cathartic (*sniff*) when it comes full circle in the end. I love your vituperative but still fascinated Severus, your blithe and brilliant Luna (my absolute favorite interpretation of her character), and the lovely little scenes in which you see Severus's interest and Luna's affection growing and ( ... )

OH! And I forgot to add how much I loved the various echoes of the Garcia-Marquez, especially the long-separated lovers being reunited, as well as the title, which made me grin like a fool.

Also, another favorite moment was Severus listing what he smelled in the Amortensia- it made me shiver.

Oh, my goodness!

I am overwhelmed by your squeee - and the Garcia-Marquez comparison has me squirming! Thank you thank you thank you!

This was a fun and challenging story to write - and so nice to be able to play with dead!Severus for once and not have to resurrect him (not that there's anything wrong with that)...

And you're right - canon is lame. If I may say so myself, I much prefer my dystopia - even if Ron and Hermione end up together. But maybe with the new world order? ;)

Sorry, primary ship prejudices are showing.

Anyway - I'm thrilled you enjoyed this and so flattered by your squee!

Wow! This is awesome! (says the avowed non-Snuna shipper!) And light and hilarious! The way they kill Voldemort--! [giggle] The high regard for Hermione without interfering with the romance. The funny image of Snape in a bag. Hee hee hee hee hee. I think the airiness of this story succeeds so well because it's based on some really solid thinking. [loves story some more]
