72. The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. Le Guin. Holy fucking crap this is good. The influence of PKD is obvious, here, but married with Le Guin's humanism and deft character work, and also to the setting--I've only been to Portland once, but reading this book made me want to go back. It also made me think of Lethem's Amnesia Moon, a book which also travels through a world which keeps shifting under the character's feet, but doesn't work because it's too gimmicky and not grounded enough in the cause or mechanism of that. I wish I had read this years ago.
