'It's in the trees, it's coming!' I've never even seen the film, and I know that line. :-) A nice little homage to the originals, and just how creepy is it that Moriarty of all people has that phone? Dum-de-dah-dah....

Thank you! That's such an iconic line, I knew I had to include it. :-) You should absolutely see the movie if you have a chance. It relies more on atmosphere than effects, like most of Tourneur's work, and is just brilliant. And I am sure that Moriarty will mine that phone for all its secrets... :-)

*blush* I thought it was a line from a Kate Bush song.

Well, that too, since Kate, bless her esoteric socks, was quoting and referencing madly all over that album. -) (I had to read an annotated Hounds of Love/Seventh Wave commentary. *g*)

Brilliant. I loved it.
Sherlock was beautifully drawn, as were John and Lastrade. And that bit of threat and promise at the end? *shivers*
Very nice.

Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed it, and felt the characters were done well. This is my first foray into this fandom, and Sherlock is a pretty intimidating character to try and portray, with all his genius. :-) And I couldn't resist that little twist at the end.

I haven't read much Sherlock fic, but thismaz pointed me at this and I've very glad she did. Beautifully spinechilling and tense storytelling. Super characterisation and a killer ending. Just a superb way to spend a little time on a Sunday afternoon. Of course, now I want to know what happens next...*g*

Wow, thank you! I wanted it to be creepy and tense, so I'm very happy to hear that it worked for you in that way. And I'm sure that Moriarty will be up to no good with that phone... :-)

Ooooh, that was good! Sherlock's anxiety at carrying the runes was well portrayed. Most enjoyable!

Thank you! I'm really glad Sherlock's anxiety came across well, I was struggling with how to show that but not be to out of character. Thanks for the lovely comments!

Whew! I feel like wrapping Sherlock up in a nice shock blanket after that ride (and myself as well). Very nicely done. I really enjoyed the moment of crisis when Sherlock passed the runes to John and I thought, "I can't believe for one nanosecond that he would endanger him - he would literally rather be ripped to shreds - so what is he doing???" and then his second text (in glorious capslock) made all clear! :) How fun. Thanks so much for this. You captured the atmospherics of the film very well.
