Snagged from ponders_life, but also because I was tagged on Facebook when a friend asked her husband and myself how many we had read. My friend had read 15. Her husband had read 35. I had read 62 (including incomplete series).

I highly recommend the Belgariad by David Eddings, and all the other books in that same universe. I cannot, in fact, recommend it highly enough. :)

But why isn't John Carter of Mars on this list? That is classic SF!

ooh, cool, I'll check that out. I've never heard of the Belgariad before, but it's good to get a recommendation.

Did you know there's a movie of John Carter coming out? Although I doubt Dejah Thoris will have bare breasts in it... ;-)

I've seen the trailer, and I have high hopes. Except I don't think they're going to actually put him on Mars...

According to the Wikipedia article, it is set on Mars. They just took "of Mars" out of the title (I don't know why).

No Weaveworld, but Time Traveller's Wife makes it on? I have no faith in this list!

Oh, I LOVED Weaveworld! Maybe because Barker is more known for horror than sci-fi/fantasy? Although who knows - I don't know what was on the original list of nominations.

Was the Time Traveller's Wife not very good? I've heard of it, but don't know anyone who's actually read it.

Plenty of people really love TTW but I thought it stank like a bin-load of last week's herring - the main character, in particular is such a massive Mary Sue, to a degree that you'd never get away with in ff.

Nice that HHGTTG came second, and only to the inevitable LotR.

I'm horrified at how few of these I've read. I need to put in some requests at the library and get going! The ones I have read are some of my favorite books ever.
