I wrote this for the Sherlock's Home contest for Save Undershaw. However, due to the contest runners arbitrarily closing the submissions window 24 hours early, I wasn't able to get it in. So I figured I'd post it here

That's nice. A lovely description of the house, a real relationship between people who feel just as real, and a huge dollop of destiny to add spice. Very nice.
Thanks! Once I had the idea that Sherlock and Mycroft might have grown up at Undershaw, the whole thing really came together. I'm really glad you liked it!
What a great way to weave together the story of the house with Sherlock fandom! And I don't know if Siger is generally a name given to Sherlock's father, but it explains why he uses Sigerson as an alias. Nicely done!
Thank you! I'm really pleased that you liked it. When I first heard about the contest I thought how cool it would be if Sherlock actually grew up at Undershaw.
ACD doesn't give us anything concrete, but there is a school of thought that Sherlock's father's name was Siger because of his use of "Sigerson" as an alias during the hiatus. It's not a very British name, though, which is somewhat at odds with ACD's characterization of Sherlock's family as "country squires." The same school theorizes that Violet was his mother's name due to the high use of "Violet" as a name in the stories, and because she was French.
I like the idea that ACD never write the empty house and that's why his books never get that popular... I wonder if Sherlock or John would read them anyway after sherlock's fall would be really awesome.
That's a cool idea, actually - maybe John could find one of the books in a used book store or something. I really wonder if Sherlock Holmes would have endured, even given its initial popularity, if ACD hadn't started writing again. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the story! Thanks for reading and for the lovely feedback!
