I need practice writing again, I think my writing skills are too rusty to write new stories. And so I stared
with the edited version of my original fic.
Summary: Selfish actions? Or is it more than that?

“What’s wrong with you?” Yuuki asked as she and her best friend walks back to their shared apartment.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, what’s with this being clingy and bratty attitude of yours?”
“Bratty and clingy attitude? What are you talking about?”
Aki suddenly stopped walking then cast her a glance as she curiously looks at him.
“You’re easily pissed off when I don’t go where you want to go. If I don’t bring you along when I go out with my friends or if I’ll go for sleep over because of our thesis”
“What’s wrong with that? I want to go too! Besides it’s really boring to stay alone at home”
*sigh* “Aki look, we both have different sets of friends, you heard me insisting to join you when you wanna go clubbing with your friends? NO. So why?”
“Why what?”
“Why are you being like this?”
“But you still come with us.” the older one retorted as if challenging the other to answer in which she did.
“Because you’re always being difficult and still drags me along. That’s why! You know I don’t enjoy that kind of stuff. But because you’re insistent and stubborn, I always end up going”
“But I want you to come too…” pout Aki as he starts walking again
“That is why, I’m asking what is wrong with you?” Yuuki insisted while trying to match Aki’s pace.
“Nothing’s wrong with me alright. So stop asking” he snap, grabbing Yuuki’s wrist and started running back home.

Aki and Yuuki are on their last year as University students, Yuuki a Business Administration student, while Aki is taking up Engineering.
Friends since they were young, people seldom see them without the other. Older by one year, Aki self-declared that he is Yuuki’s older brother and if any one would try to bully or make her cry, they would surely answer to his wrath.
Upon entering University, they decided to rent an apartment together rather than staying at the University Dorm for the reason that it would only hinder their social life.
Because they’re best of friends for such a long time and their parent are really cool, it wasn’t difficult to execute the plan.
And because they’re best of friends, brothers and sisters, there are no more secrets between the two of them. They already know each other’s good qualities and flaws. And this helps their bond to become stronger as the years passes by.
But lately Yuuki’s quite bothered with her friend’s actions because Aki is not the type of person who tends to be clingy. As she puts it, Aki is a free spirit who loves to meet different types of people. Yuuki also likes meeting people she’s not as out-going as her friend. That’s why she’s wondering why the older man wants to drag her along everywhere he goes or tag along with her wherever she goes.

It has been another hell week for Yuuki as she plops down the couch after their nerve wracking exams and thesis session. So all she wanted is to just spend it at home and rest. But it’s like fate is not on her side because as she feels herself being dragged to dreamland, she heard a loud “BANG!” of their door followed by her overly excited friend.
“Yuu… Let’s have dinner with Midori and Junno” Aki announced
“Aki, if you want to go with them just go… I’m not in the mood”
“But, I want you to be there too…”
“I’m so tired…”
It was the only response Aki heard before he noticed that his best friend already dozed off.
Biting back his amusement and irritation at the same time he approached the sleeping form, lift her up, then proceed to the young one’s room to settle her down.
‘Now I’m going to tell them I can’t come‘ huff Aki as he dial Junno’s number and apologized that he can’t join them because Yuuki is not feeling well.

“Hey, I’m going to meet up Daiki, Minami, Momiji and Yuichi later” Yuuki announced as she pack some of her things “Don’t wait for me, we’re staying at Yuichi’s dorm to finalize things for our feasibility”
“No!” Aki retorted then marched over to where his younger friend is and snatched her backpack out of her reach.
“What are you doing?! Give that back to me!” she demands but her friend doesn’t heed her threat, instead he walked out of her room and went straight to his own.
Torn between anger and curiosity Yuuki went to Aki’s room to see what he’s planning to do.
Upon reaching his door, she saw him taking her things out of her bag, open his cabinet and extract his varsity bag, then starts arranging Yuuki’s things inside then walk towards his closet to get some of his things as well.
“What are you doing!”
“Obviously I’m going with you. I’m not staying here while you’re staying at your friend’s dorm with your jerk ex-boyfriend staying there as well”
“No! You’re not coming! Besides it’s been 2 years. 2 YEARS since we broke up, stop being overprotective! I won’t be crawling back to him if that’s what you’re worried about. You’re my best friend you should know that.”
“I trust you, but it’s him I don’t trust”
“If you trust me, then stop being giving me problems and just stay here” Yuuki glared at Aki who gladly returns it.
“LET’S SEE.”

“Sooooo~~~~ Yuu can you please explain it to me again why is your best friend slash bodyguard will be joining us tonight?” asked Yuichi as he looks at the guy slouching near the door listening to his mp3 player.
“He said he don’t want to be alone in the house coz it’s boring” Yuuki replied as she throws subtle scowl toward their oblivious subject.
Minami who’s listening to her friends conversation saw this and announced “excuse me for a while; I need to get something in my room. Yuuki, let’s go!” dragging her out of the room.

“Are you sure, boredom is the real reason why he’s here?” Minimi asked breaking the silence.
“Yes, of course. Are there any other reasons?”
Yuuki glance at her friend trying to read what’s on her mind.
“Reasons? Hhhhmm… That’s tough… I’ll take a wild guess then… Daiki.”
It’s not a question, it’s a statement.
“And I hate you to the nth power!” Yuuki retorted making Minami laugh
“Yuuki Ishida I won’t be your “OTHER best friend” if I don’t have to ability to understand that intricate mind of yours”
“If we’re best of friends then how come I can’t understand what’s inside your head?”
“Because you’re too busy comprehending what’s running inside Aki’s head”

Since her conversation with Minami few weeks ago, Yuuki finds herself asking, ‘Why would I be more interested in Aki’s thoughts?’
YES. She’s curious about what’s on Aki’s mind because he surely is acting really (like REALLY) weird for a quite some time now and Yuuki doesn’t know why. And sometimes she gets really frustrated to know the answer.
But that doesn’t mean that she’s interested and eager to know.
‘Don’t you think your friend is being overly protective of you?’ Minami’s voice resounds in her head
‘Are you sure, he’s just a friend to you? And are you sure he also treats you ONLY as a friend? Because from my perception, its way, way different.’
These words confuses Yuuki, that she wanted to march towards her best friend and starts shaking him really hard until she get some answers. But she knows that it won’t happen. Knowing him, he’ll be pissed off if she’ll do that.

“Ask away” came a lazily answer as he is currently scanning the channels trying to find a nice program to watch.
“Honestly, why did you insisted in joining our group session?”

This time the older one diverts his eyes from the television and looks at the person in front of him
“I mean what’s your reason why did you tag-along last time, to Yuichi’s dorm?”
“Like I’ve told you because I want to see if that jerk will do something bad to you and I’ll die out of boredom here”
“I see… Is that all?”
“Well, what do you want me to say?”
Aki stares at his friend waiting for her answer.
“Ummm… Nothing! Just forget it”
She hurriedly stands up and walk-run going to her room to sort out her piled up thoughts.
‘Why did I ask that? He might think I’m expecting something… Or am I?’ She then collapse on her bed to ponder.

“NO, I DON’T WANT YOU TO GO!”
“WHY NOT?!” Yuuki shouts back “YOU’RE NOT MY MOTHER SO STOP MEDDLING WITH MY LIFE”
“I’M NOT YOUR MOTHER, BUT I’M YOUR BEST FRIEND AND I WANT THE BEST FOR YOU!”
“THEN ACT LIKE ONE. NOT LIKE SOME CLINGY KID OR NAGGING MOTHER”
“What did you just said? Clingy and nagging?”
This time, Aki’s voice toned down and stares at his friend, hurt written all over his face.
“Yes…. If not, then give me one good reason why are you acting this way?”
Looking at him, Yuuki felt tad guilty for saying those words.
Aki hesitated for a moment before answering “because I don’t want you to be associating with that jerk”
“Is this because of Daiki again? How many times do I have to tell you it’s way, way over between us? Why don’t you just mind your own business and leave me alone!”
She stomps her foot then frowned at him.
“You don’t know a thing…” the older man muttered and about to turn his back to leave when he felt a tug on his shirt
“Then tell me. I’ll listen.”
“Even if I tell you, you won’t understand. There’s no way you’ll understand”
“Who are you to judge, you haven’t even tried yet?”
“I just know you can’t. The reason is too complicated that I myself can’t even explain it.”
“You’re so selfish Aki… You don’t want me to know what’s inside that complicated mind of yours when I’m nothing but an open book to you” Yuuki whispered but clear enough for him to hear and understand.
‘You’re so selfish Aki…’
These words gave a bitter taste in his mouth and an ugly twist in his heart as mist of tears began to manifest. Not bothering to conceal them, he breaks himself free and took a fast stride towards the door and slamming it shut.

They’ve been friends for such a long time
But this is the first time they had this kind of argument and Yuuki felt awful as she realized that her bestfriend got hurt with her harsh words.
Running to the door, she yanked it open to look where did the other go.
But after an hour of failed search, she dialled Junno and Midori’s number to check if Aki is with them. But unfortunately they said no.
‘Where did that guy go?’ she muttered as she tries to recall other possible people to call but no one comes to mind.
She tried calling his number but unfortunately he really doesn’t want to be found coz he turned it off. And this worries her even more.
‘Where are you?’

‘Maybe he’s trying to cool his head off’’
Yuuki decided go back to their apartment after another 30 minutes of search and decided to just wait for him to come home. But if by morning he’s still missing, she’ll ask his friends’ help.
But when she stepped inside their living room, she saw him on their couch with that faraway look as if lost in deep thoughts.
“Hey” She softly called out “Where have you been? I was worried about you.”
“Sorry to make you worry. I’m here now” a small voice answered
“I’m sorry…”
“Don’t be… Maybe I really deserve what you called me earlier”
Awkward silence lingers in the air and when Yuuki’s about to open her mouth to say something, Aki suddenly stand up, walk towards to where she is and hand her a piece of paper.
“Maybe… This will explain everything… I hope… ”
That said he passed by her and locked himself in his room.

I’m not a perfect person, I know that. You can even attest to that. We’ve been friends since you’re 7 and I’m 8.
Remember our promise when someone picked a fight with you? I told you that I’ll be your big brother from that day on and would protect you every single day until we’re old wrinkly grannies.
I still want to keep that promise. But I think, I can no longer fulfill it.
I can no longer be your brother.
I can no longer be your best friend.
I can no longer be your side kick.
I can no longer be your innocent friend.
Because I crossed that line of platonic relationship when I realized I’m in love with you.
But it’s something I don’t want to disclose.
I want it to keep it as a secret.
I want to keep it from you.
I want to keep you in the dark as to what I feel for you.
Because I want to keep you close to me, right next to me even if I’m nothing but a friend.
So now I feel guilty coz I want to selfishly keep you for myself.
I want you to see me more than just a friend.
I’m hoping that you’ll soon realize that you feel the same way and that you also hate the word platonic.
So yeah, I’m acting this way coz I’m selfishly in love with you.

She was able to sort out her real feelings towards her long time friend, thanks to Minami’s intellectual advice. Though it took her a while to understand what her friend is trying to tell her.
She softly knocks at Aki’s door and patiently waits.
Wrap up in her thoughts as she tries to recall every word written in the letter, she didn’t noticed the door is now open and Aki is curiously looking at her.
He was only snapped out of it when she felt hand on her shoulder
“Are you alright?”
Without warning she flung herself at Aki burying her face on his chest and cried
“You’re one stupid brat!”
“Oh… I’m sorry… I told….” Aki started to explain but was not able to complete it because a pair of soft lips stops him from talking further.
“You really are selfish for keeping it to yourself” she whispers as she once again embraced her best friend who’s about to be her boyfriend.
“What are you saying?
“It means that… I love you too… My best friend… My brother… and My Love”
With these words, Aki warmly smile as he felt his heart jump and dance. Once again, he bend down to kiss his precious one. Whispering over and over again
“I love you…”

Without warning she flung herself at Aki burying her face on his chest and cried
“You’re one stupid brat!”
“Oh… I’m sorry… I told….” Aki started to explain but was not able to complete it because a pair of soft lips stops him from talking further.
“You really are selfish for keeping it to yourself” she whispers as she once again embraced her best friend who’s about to be her boyfriend.
“What are you saying?
“It means that… I love you too… My best friend… My brother… and My Love”
With these words, Aki warmly smile as he felt his heart jump and dance. Once again, he bend down to kiss his precious one. Whispering over and over again
“I love you…”

Yeah so that's it.... I didn't change much... Just some names and wordings....

I know it's not really related but when I'm re-writing this I can't help but to think of Daiki & Satsuki (from KNB) I'm shipping them tho it seems their relationship is purely brother & sister / best of friends and nothing more...
