Between Reality and Lies : Chapter 8
CHAPTER 8
“Hey boys, how’s the recording going?” asked Koki as the three of them walked out of the building. They just finished recording 4 of their songs before Koki call it a day.
“They’re okay. We’re looking forward to release them soon” answered Tatsuya as he slings his backpack on his shoulder.
“Good, good… after you complete your recording. You’ll have a 2 months vacation. You deserve it” complimented their manager.
“Really? But what we will do on those 2 months Tat-chan?” a concern Kazuya asked
“We could spend it together” answered by Ueda which earned a smack from Kamenashi “Baka! We always spend it together” he huffed as Tanaka laughed at them.
“Okay, okay! It’s just a suggestion” complained by Tatsuya. “Ah I know, let’s invite Nakamaru, Taguchi and Akanishi to my house”
“I second to that!” agreed Koki as they all hop inside his car ready to drive home. But before they can fasten their seatbelts they heard a knock on the window.
“Jin! What are you doing here?” Kamenashi exclaimed as he roll down the window and give an inquiring look at the man standing outside.
“I’m on the area and I remember that you mention about your recording today. So I decided to drop by.” Akanishi simply reply.
All Ueda and Tanaka did was to stare and listen intently at the conversation of those two.
“I see… Good thing you got here on time.” The youngest of them stated “coz if not, you’ll stand here and wait until tomorrow.”
This comment flicker a certain emotion in Jin’s face but immediately disappeared though not before it was noticed by an observant eye.
“I hate to interrupt you, but Jin can you please get inside the car and continue your little chat here” Koki butt in while signaling Ueda to trade places with Kame who’s sitting at the passengers sit.
Tatsuya gave him a small glare then stepped out, open the passenger side and let Kazuya out then hopped in. Jin opened the back door and let Kazuya in before he followed.
“Jin after we finish recording, we will have 2 months off said Koki” Kazuya happily informed the person beside him
“So we decided to invite you to my house.” Add Tatsuya “please inform Nakamaru san and Taguchi san”
“Okay, I’ll inform them. When will it be? I mean the start of your vacation?” question Akanishi
“Maybe 1 ½ month from now, we still need to finish the recording” Koki answered for the two.
“I see… Alright, I’ll tell those two about your plan so that they won’t make any appointments”
They decided to grab some quick dinner before heading home. They talked about work, their hobbies and other stuff. And TOUCH older member noticed that Jin is chattier unlike before.
When they’re about to leave, Kazuya announce that he and Jin won’t be coming home yet and asked Tatsuya and Koki to go ahead and just bring his things home.
Ueda’s about to protest but keep his mouth shut when he saw Koki giving him a knowing look. So they said their goodbyes and made their separate ways.
It’s already been 6 months since Jin and Kazuya decided to spend their free time together whenever their schedule permits. And as Kazuya said it, they’re best of friends already.
Though they’re different in some aspects, they still find a common ground.
And as much as Jin wants to put distance between him and Kamenashi he found himself having trouble with it.
Sometimes they have petty quarrels but it doesn’t last a day. Maybe the longest is 2 days as Jin can recall. And this made him think how long since he personally met Kazuya… Ah, 8 months already.
Also, the more he get to know him, the more complicated feelings stirs up inside which he chose to ignore. And he made a promise to himself that he won’t tell anybody and this includes his friends.
Lastly, he can’t explain it but Kazuya and Tatsuya’s closeness bothers him. Whenever they’re together it’s either Ueda calls Kazuya to check up on him or Kazuya calls Ueda to let him know where he is.
But of course being a friend, he doesn’t have a right to interrogate the young one why is the older member of TOUCH keeps checking on him and sometimes picks him up wherever he is.
“Ne Kazu? Want to hang out in my place tonight” Asked Jin “sure!” answered the latter. They walked several blocks before reaching his apartment
“What do you want for snack” he asked as he open the door “I’d like to have vanilla ice cream” was a quick answer.
“Okay. Good thing I still have those in my fridge or else I have to walk another block” which earn a light laugh from Kame.
Kame settled on the couch while Jin went to the kitchen to get their snack. After a while he returned to the living room and plop right beside his friend who’s already watching a movie which he found in one of the cable channels.
Then in one scene Kazuya got curious and ask “Jin, have you ever been in love?” Jin gives a loud “HA?” but it seems he won’t get off the hook that easily.
So he decided to answer it as carefully as he can. “Yes I have”
“Really? What she’s like?” the boy sitting beside him continue
“What she’s like? Ummm… I don’t really know… I didn’t have a chance to talk to her face to face actually…” he tried to explain.
“Not face to face? Why? Where did you met?” A more curious question comes up…
‘This is getting difficult’ Jin thought. “Actually, I’ve met hi..her ‘oooppps! You almost slip’ his mind yell.
“I met her almost 3 years ago, but when I have the courage to approach her and ask her out she’s no longer connected to the company. Then the next time I saw her, I know I’ll never be able to have her.”
“What do you mean you can never have her? Is she working overseas?” Another question from Kazuya
“No she’s here in our country… But she’s so popular and I know that loving her is just a mistake. Because there are so many people who adore her and compare to me, I’m nothing. So I decided to give up”
“I think you shouldn’t” his friend simply remark.
“Oh… And why is that? Have you ever been in love? I guess not” noted Jin
“Actually I have…” Kazuya respond. This held a silent atmosphere for a while then the older one asked “what did you do about it?”
“I let it slip and now I’m trying to draw that person to me once again” he replied while staring intently at his hands.
“Oh, so you still love that person until now?” an expected question pops up… “Yes”
“I see… I hope it works out between the two of you” Jin cheered Kazuya but there’s a slight melancholy on his voice that made Kame look at him. “Better tell that person how you really feel...” Jin smiled
“Ummm… Jin, actually….” Kazuya was about to say something when they heard the doorbell rang.
“Please hold on for a while I’ll just see who’s at the door” with that Jin got up and went to the front door with Kazuya on his trail.
When Jin opened the door he saw a girl standing outside giving him a sweet smile. “Hello Jin. It’s been a while…Can we talk?”
Kame peeks to the new comer. Then he recognize her, he saw her last year in one of the events he attended ‘Kato Rosa san’ was the name.
Jin is having a hard time deciding whether to talk to her or shoo her away. But as a gentleman and when he recalls Yuichi’s scolding he decided to invite her inside.
When he turn around he saw Kazuya making his way to the door “Jin, I have to go now”
“Why?” he quickly ask “Because you have a visitor and it’s not right to talked to her while I’m invading your place” the latter said
“But this won’t take an hour” protest Jin “But it’s not right for me to listen to whatever you’re about to discuss.” argued Kazuya, he bid goodbye to the two before closing the door behind him.
Jin’s about to go after him when a firm grip stopped him, he looked at it and then at the owner of those hands.
“What do you want Rosa san?” he tried to be polite because it’s the right thing to do. But he’s having a strange feeling about this visit.
“I just need to tell you something” she whispered.
“And what is that?”
“This” and she quickly lean on Jin covering his lips with hers.

“Great! I forgot my wallet at Jin’s” Kazuya whine as he made his way again towards Jin’s room.
‘I didn’t know he knows Rosa san. Maybe she’s the person he said he loves’ thinking this prick an unknown feeling deep in his heart but he decide to push it at the back of his mind..
‘I hope she’s no longer there… But that’s not possible…she just came right?’
When he reached his destination he knocked once and about to knock for the second time when he notice that the door was not lock , maybe since he left so he decided to enter.
“Jin? Jin? I came back bec…” the words he’s about to say was forgotten when he saw his best friend and the model engaging in a very intimate lip lock.
His coherent mind must not be working properly coz he can’t remember if he let out a yelp, a gasp or cry that made Jin look his way showing a surprise look and then replaced by panic as he try to push the clinging girl away from him.
Because he doesn’t want to see more events unfolding before his very eyes, Kazuya mumbled ‘sorry’ and scamper towards the front door and slam it behind him not caring if he didn’t retrieve his wallet.
All he wanted right now is to get out of the place as soon as possible and ignore the unbearable pain he’s feeling at the very moment.
When he stepped outside the apartment he hurriedly hail a cab, hopped in and can’t wait to go home...
